Fun with Metal!

Do you think Nick was better than Lombardo? Serious question. I'm not sure I can judge them properly. It would be easier if Megadeth were writing music as intense as Slayer while Nick was in the band.

Nick's experience and skillset was a lot wider than Dave's from what I heard. Maybe at the time his drumming wasn't as intense as Dave's but until Dave moved into bands like Philm I don't think he showed a great deal of variety in what he did. He was good, there is no doubt about that but Nick was able to play everything from jazz to metal and he'd been doing it for years before taking on Megadeth.

I see Lombardo's old band Philm are releasing something soon. I found it funny that Lombardo claimed he didn't leave that band rather he ended the band. It wasn't his band to end and he was the only one to leave. Lombardo's drumming on the albums is good, but I'm not the fan of the music I once was. I doubt I'll even listen to the new album but I would like to hear Lombardo's thoughts on an album by a band that no longer exists because he said so. :)

I don't even know who the other guys are. I bought Philm for Lombardo and Lombardo only. Dave may have been a little silly claiming the band folded without him but I'm not interested in it without him.

On MA forums someone posed the question, "Can you name a musician who fronted a band they were inspired by"
I couldn't help by laugh at this response.

Yngwie Malmsteen was a huge Yngwie Malmsteen fan before he fired every singer he ever had and decided to do it on his own. He finally got to front his favourite band. Good for YJM.

Yeah I thought so too. There is another person on MA forums with a sig that is a similar attack on YJM which is quiet funny.
