Gear lust. DO WANT!

"The new V adds a low B string and active EMG pickups to appeal to metal guitarists."

...Because metal guitarists have been ignoring Gibson for so long now.

I don't know, something about that lone tuning peg at the top of the headstock irritates me.
At least it doesn't have a bunch of holes punched through it and the V is facing the right way.

Never liked the V design, but this one looks like a boss.
The input jack could be on the side, though.

My favourite V design still is the Alexi Laiho´s ESP.

The good idea is to have a jack ending with this : http://media.plugsquare.com/ps/products/00/00/50/74/LD0000507491_1.jpg

It's even better than having it on the side depending on the design of the guitar.

And +1 for the laiho's ESP, that's why I have the SV standard. A badass guitar, I love the RR form, and dunno why, but the ESP copy is even more appealing to me. Love that guitar.

That gibby is tasty, I was expecting something odd, it's the contrary.

Didn't know those tuners. It's weird, but, if you think of it, tuners destroy the line of the guitar, we're so used to them we don't even see they're horrid

Gibson makes a 7 string V with EMGs to appeal to metal guitarists...

..then puts atrocious gold hardware and giant obnoxious gold tailpiece plate and fugly pickguard with front loaded electronics to make them not want to buy it.

Why can't I just have a nice, simple LP with an extra low B?

All Gibson would have to do is make some simple explorers and Vs with no pickguard, 2 volume knobs, black or silver hardware, some good tuners, and and drop their prices a couple hundred and you'd see more people playing them.

They made a very limited edition 1984 reissue hetfield type explorer for a limited time which I would have love to bought but of course it was only available for like one year.
They look so much better with no pickguard IMO

That Hetfield explorer is sex.

They should make more stuff like that, but instead they try to be "cutting edge" by making atrocities like these:

Which always remind me of this

If you can find them, they made a few Goth Les Pauls as 7-string versions. I think they may have done a few explorers like that too. I know epiphone had some gothics with floyd rose trems, and i think even a 7 with floyd, but not sure. all this is pretty rare. i've wanted a goth v with floyd FOREVER, but just don't have the cash.

they got this 7 string explorer which basically looks like a goth:

i am a fan of the goth/gothic/voodoo series, so i'm always skankin around for them.

I would sell whatever the hell I had to, including organs I can get away with losing, in order to buy one if they did. I love my Explorer and all, but FUCK the ones without pickgaurds looks so much better.

I like the idea of them doing a 7-string, but man I agree with what's already been said -- that gold hardware, huge tailpice, and pickguard on that thing looks atrocious. This is designed for the "metal" guitarist in their 40s+.

Dude naw...

EDIT: They have ONE Les Paul with EMGs (I don´t count the Zakk Wylde ones)... and that one costs more than 4.000 bucks. Why are they doing that? Wanna make a guitar which appeals to metal guitarists? Les Paul Studio, Satin Black, EMGs, done. Add a Les Paul Standard with ESP like see through finishes and EMGs --> win

And no fucking tribals...
