High gain amp shootout

No JSX?
No Bugera?
No Marshalls?
No Roadking??
No 5150 III?

and they chose the 1980 over the Krankenstein or Rev ....WTF

I call Bullshit! But I will check it out anyway. Hopefully the asshole they get to play the amps actually plays metal. (ok just Read its Misha ... so thats a plus ...lol)

WOW ... Misha's tones are so "washy" not liking them AT ALL when he plays.

That Deizel is the shit, wish I could afford one :(

Cool stuff. One of the bands I play in opened up for Ty and his band, Thousand Foot Krutch...actually played in the band I'm in now too hah. Cool guy. Tones on these videos are sad all across the board though...not sure why.

Not digging any of the tones, tbh...

I think they should hire Ola to do these kind of shootouts... :bah:

I've only gotten to the VH4, and I really like it's RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUR sound.

Hmmm 3:30 into this video, not liking the playing... But I guess it's kinda awkward sitting there in a stiff recording studio and try to play well.

Recto is fucking BRIGHT sounding.
You'd think the dude that dialed in the tones is practically deaf from 6KHz upwards, geezus, because there is no need to have it that damn bright.

Digging the Orange quite a bit. Should try it out. Not sure why, but Misha's sound isn't
that good most of the time, but he's normally using a very special rig, so that could be
a reason.

I think they should have just used dis from two different players, played on the same guitar.

Using different cabs does make this pretty useless to an extent, also the amps don't seem to have been dialed in well at all. Misha's tone always seems really dark and the other guy too bright.

I really like the gain character of the 6534+ though. Would be awesome to hear that dialed in properly in a mix.

wow, all with different cabs....what a completely useless comparison

also they should let someone play something recognizable.
i mean its cool to listen to wankery but seriously,
i never understood how people could actually dive into the tone of an amp
by playing random stuff...
i mean they could test the amp for powerchords,
single notes, lead, arpeggios, tapping, legato, palm mutes whatever.
but playing nonsense will never make any amp shine...

i think the best way to compare amps is to have a great but easy riff di track
and send that thorugh different heads with the same cab and the same micing AND Loudness matched.

everything else is a waste of time.

I tried to watch the first video but got bored before I heard a single note of the amp. "BOOM, WELCOME TO THE MONSTER AMP SHOOT-OUT 3000! I'M HERE TO TALK CRAP FOR SIX FULL MINUTES BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY GET A CHANCE TO CHECK OUT WHAT THE AMP REALLY SOUNDS LIKE! AND AS A SURPRISE BONUS, WE MADE IT SOUND LIKE CRAP! GRAB YOUR FAVORITE CROSSWORD PUZZLE AND GET READY TO DIE FROM BORED-UH, ROCK N ROLL!"

Without the bullshit, straight into action
