General Midi for a Mac??

Is there no type of general midi for a Mac? The reason I ask is i'm trying to get our drummer to make midi clicks in Reaper. Is there no stock way to assign a sound on a mac per midi note? I mean he could program the midi and tempo changes, etc. and use the actual click track, but it just seems easier if you can assign a midi note to a sound instead.

Anyone?

Loren, I hear that. But, I wouldn't think it would be impossible to program some midi click tracks in there.

He's only used Garageband, but gb won't allow tempo changes.

Yes. I've played back midi files on OSX plenty of times. See SocialNumb's answer.

Haha, I pretty much agree too. But our drummer is well.....a ritard (<-- hangover quote). Since he doesn't know any other program besides GB, I figured maybe he could handle it.

You can do tempo changes in gb its just tricky...if i can remember the process ill get back to you
