Genesis of a Festival?

Lesson of this story: anyone on this board who feels like throwing a bitch-fit about every detail of this festival needs to do what Glenn did...... Suck it up and do it better yourself!

Oh, and good luck with that, by the way.....

supermaket hall....oooh I bet the acoustics will kick ass there.

So, how was the sound?

...pretty much what you'd expect. The soundguy wasn't allowed to overpower the room, which was really the only option given the setup, so it was, ahem, less than stellar.

Believe me, it was interesting - all of those fests were, for various reasons.

Ah, the memories! Powermad was indeed a massive clusterfuck, but it was always a good time. The best part of that first fest is how Keith never mentioned until the fest actually happened that Elegy weren't gonna play. Same thing happened with Symphony X, as I recall. I wonder if he was secretly hoping that they'd show up after all?

No, '99 actually ran pretty well - as on time as any large festival, but hardly the schedule disaster the prior two years had been. Unfortunately, it was already too late, and the Euro press didn't come back after '98.

It figures that it was the one that I didn't go to...

The funny thing about Powermad is that I don't remember *any* of the bands, just a lot of shenanigans with the audience...

The funny thing about Powermad is that I don't remember much of anything...lol. Damn you, clear Snapple! The bands that stand out in my memory the most are Evergrey, Mayadome and Jag Panzer. It was a good time, despite the (many) flaws. Basically a good template for how NOT to run a festival...glad Glenn was taking notes. :)

I think even Maryland got abbreviated incorrectly! lol. It was horrible trying to get any info out of him, and promo stuff, etc.
Hell - he even renamed our song on the 2000 compilation CD
Glad Glenn ran with this, for sure!
