Don't worry dude. It's a cakewalk. You get used to it quick, until they hit a nerve and you jump out the chair screaming like a little girl. ;)

J/k Arm don't hurt.

Tats don't hurt, especially the arm. You'll be fine. One thing you can do though is pop a benadryl or 2 about an hour before. Its not for the pain or anything but some people's skin gets very aggravated after a couple of hours and sometimes the artist will stop at that point ... the benadryl will keep your skin from swelling up and you can get the whole outline done in one sitting ... in case you're one of those people ;)

Yeah, I get that pretty bad. Swells up big time, no pain but fucking annoying for my artist. Tends to go down fairly fast on me though, my last was done in one eight hour session and we had a stop a couple times to let it go down some.

Elbow to wrist, inside left forearm, incase anyone cares.

It definitely hurts, but it depends on where on the body.
Doing a half sleeve is a piece of cake though(Ive done it.).. it gets a bit soar after a couple of hours, but its really not that bad(The worst part is the wiping with alcohol.).

my artist. Tends to go down fairly fast on me

Sorry for being childish, but I could not let this go without making note of it :) I read that through too fast the first time and it just seems like an interesting thing for your tattoo artist to be doing to you. I never new tattoo's included happy endings.

OK - back to reality.

I'd like to get a tattoo but have not yet - my wife has a few and my stepson is slowly but surely becoming the tattoo man (yes, I'm that old) in our family - I think he is up to about 10 different ones now including portraits on his forearms of his two best friends he has lost in the Gulf and Afghan wars.

if you are doing the underside of your arm, enjoy that, it's not very pleasant, 2nd most painful place I've been tattooed besides my chest, if not it's a walk in the park dude

looks like it's going to be a really sweet piece. don't get nervous man. you'll be fine. my brother is a tattoo artist, so i have a couple myself. just remember one thing... breathe! you will have a tendency to hold your breath when you feel pain. you know, just kind of tensing up and not taking full breaths. i have one on my right inside forearm and it was pretty painful doing the outline. i was holding my breath for too long and taking big breaths when he stopped. i made myself so dizzy i puked my guts out about 10 min into it. so don't do that! and you'll do fine.

Hahaha, and I'm normally quite careful with proofreading my posts.

Ive heard that before, i have the inside of my arm done and it really wasnt bad at all but its a small saying so that might be why, also heard the shoulder was bad, and i just got that literally a week ago today, the only part i even actually felt on my shoulder was right by my neck. The ribs however, that shit hurts. I got my sleeve started a little while back but the artist was so fucking bad i walked out, a little late though the whole outer side of my arm is outlined and half shaded already. and am now waiting to get some more funds up to get the sleeve finished up and redone by my new guy.
