Ghost of Freedom

It says in the book this is the only song not based on a horror character, its about the civil war (I think). And which ones did you have to figure out, don't the song names usually give it away?

The Glorious Burden should have a theme going through it,which is war and general epicness I guess. There'll probably be another trilogy or at least a 30 minute song about Gettysburg.

"who is the song about?"

I do believe that it is based loosely on the movie "The Patriot." Or that is atleast where Matt got the idea for it.

I don't much like it. Don't think it fits. As for the questions, yes it was inspired by the patriot, but not based on it. And TGB has a theme of american history, but some songs apparently don't fit the theme. That's what jon has said anyway. *shrugs*

I really like Ghost of Freedom (and the rest of Iced Earth's ballads).

It sure beats Im-Ho-Tep (or whatever its called) and Jack (good riffs, awful lyrics)

Dracula ROCKS imo... you are entitled to your own. but yeah, i like jack all except for the chorus... i like the lyrics but the vocal line doesn't match with the guitars... it's just not up to par for them.

Personal opinion on Horror Show...IE's worst. Not as inconsistent as SWTWC, but the good isn't near as good.

Wolf: Feh. If you're gonna play fast, play fast, don't just mess around with fast riffs in slow time signatures. Crappy, crappy chorus.

Damien: Would be quite awesome if not for the really repetitive riff & overlong chorus. And that midle section is stupid, stupid, STUPID.

Jack: Very good tune, but the riff is again repetitive. But playing fast always helps.

Ghost of Freedom: Unspeakably sappy and hideous.

Im-ho-tep: Another great song ruined by a repetitive riff and forced down to merely "pretty good." Awesome chorus.

Jeckyl & Hyde: Boring. Next track.

Dragon's Child: Even more boring. Next next track.

Transylvania: It's a great Maiden instrumental, but there is NO FUCKING DIFFERENCE. Jon's Maiden worship is really hurting. Next next next track.

Frankenstein: See Im-Ho-Tep. Cool screams.

Dracula: HELL MOTHERFUCKING YES!! Good melodic intro, KILLER FUCKING SHRIEKS!! Thrash all the way through, and great thrash.

Phantom Opera Ghost: I hate, loathe, detest, despise, and wish to destroy keyboards. A great song that would be utterly brilliant if they A) took out the keyboards B) replaced the long riff-repeat sections with a couple of lead breaks, or at least varied the riffage. Those parts are really boring as is; otherwise, great.

Disagrees with all of that.

Yeah, Pyrus, no offense, but I disagree with about 95% of all of that stuff.

I do agree with Dracula though. I love the screams, and the intro is sweet, I like it.

As for Ghost of Freedom, as with all Iced Earth ballads, I love it. I think it's quite an emotional song, and I like the lyrics a lot.

Best song on Horror Show for me: Dracula or Phantom Opera Ghost (I really dig the female vocals)
Worst: Jeckyl & Hyde

Yeah, I used to like IE's last three albums a lot more, but I started listneing to a lot more thrash late last year (Overkill, Death Angel, Testament, Exodus, Dark Angel, Vio-lence, etc.), and I've discovered a new love and appreciation for the Power of the Almighty Riff. So I like their first three more, and their last three less. I think that Matt's departure may be a good thing for the band overall, as it'll force Jon to come up with some new and exciting riffs instead of relying on Matt to carry the song. It all depends on who they pick.

I love Ghost Of Freedom. Fun to play on geetar and fairly easy to sing for me so I enjoy jamming to it in my little studio here.

The only track I usually skip on Horror Show is Frankenstein. I find it boring. The rest of the album kills. If I had to rank the songs it would go like this:

Phantom Opera Ghost
Dracula
Ghost Of Freedom
Wolf
Damien
Im-Ho-Tep (I love this tune I'm surprised so many of you don't dig it!)
Jack
Jekyll And Hyde
Dragon's Child
Frankenstein

I didn't include the Maiden cover coz it's not IE
