Global Warming Argument

I've always found it funny how people like Al Gore have to twist the words of legitimate sources and use horribly inaccurate models and simulations to get the point across that we should do something about a very real problem. Since that nonsense, and trying to explain to people that I dislike both sides of the issue and would rather see science not be manipulated into partisan rhetoric, I've just stopped caring.

You want to know how we should stop global warming? Nuclear winter. Now fuck off.

Jeff

You know what I think about Global Warming?

Nothing, I don't care. I'm gonna die anyway, it's inevitable. My kids problem, not mine.

Yeah, I know that's some side's point of view, but I really don't dabble in politics.

Really, I don't care too much about any of it, since the only people who need to be convinced are the ones at the top of the battle and the ones who control the money. He does raise a few interesting statements though, and I suggest at least listening to what the guy has to say.

uh al gore hasnt twisted anything. ive done EXTENSIVE studying on this topic and the worldwide concensus, minus the pesudo-scientific right wing propaganda financed by oil companies who clearly dont want this to exist, is global warming is REAL. R-E-A-L. as mr gore put it - its not a political issue - its a moral issue.

btw im not even a big al gore supporter, but you cant ignore the FACTS.

Here's where you're getting me mixed up. I'm not following right-wing propaganda, I just don't like real science getting twisted to fit the goals of attention whores. Whether it's real or not I think that when he misquotes people and uses a computerized model that, if used a few decades ago, would have predicted LA being underwater, he's hurting science and making his own side look bad. Note that I haven't said I disbelieve it, I just hate the bastard.

Jeff

I thought it was pretty obvious that our butchery of the planet is causing devastating repercussions. Global Warming is only a small part of a larger problem.

My flatmate works for the Australian Government in the environment sector and global warming threat is very real. We are fucking our planet and it is going to kill us. She has read all the scientific papers and is freaked out about our future. Unfortunately the biggest pollution culprits - America and Australia - refuse to do anything about it.

Also, the idiot who says it's his kids problem not his - I bloody well hope you are joking! It's people like you that make our Governments never change. Only when things go wrong or people protest does any change come about.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. The "partisan rhetoric" you speak of pisses me off no end too. Legitimate research is sidelined by buzz-word headlines often funded from sources of questionable agency and veracity.

I find it hard to wade through the nonsense and really decipher what's going on.

Well, regardless of any argument that might be made concerning Global Warming, what speaks volumes are the facts. What's sad, however, is that many of the facts are either little known or completely unknown. For instance, the Earth has it's own cycles, as well as our Solar System. Some of the changes we are now experiencing (or ignorant of) have a lot to do with Earth changes, and those Earth changes are a result of our Solar System moving into a much higher density of energy within our galaxy... it's basically getting closer to aligning with the center of the galaxy which puts us in the midst of a very high level of "cosmic energy". You can look up some facts as to what this means, but basically, the results are a heightening of both the complexity and quality of life on our planet. Life is energy, and pure energy can not be destroyed or created. There is an existent/infinite amount. We're simply beginning to be subjected to a much higher level of this energy, and it will prove to change most of what we know as "laws" of reality from our human perspective. It's already starting... after all, we only have five senses. Who are we to say that reality is confined to what our five senses can detect and logically illustrate?

But, my point here is, considering this exposure to cosmic energy... then considering the condition that we humans have put our planet in with our ridiculous amount of oil being poured into the atmosphere to name one issue amongst several, we're asking for some sort of bad mxture. It's like if you give a homeless drug addict a lot of money to put his life in a better place... he's not going to do the smartest things with that money.

Anyway, this is just my vague two cents. I don't care whether or not Al Gore is asking for attention, he wouldn't be talking about legitimate world moral issues while facing all of this controversy if he just wanted attention. There's a million other ways to do that. I don't like the guy too much, but I have no problem with what he's doing... people need to stop being ignorant and start caring about ALL of us, rather than just themselves. Not only are we all here together, but we're all human, and we all live in a Universe that is full of life and we're part of that as well. If you want to be cynical and ignorant, fine, but that's not getting you anywhere. It's time to wake up.

I think that if Al Gore really wants to help the global warming cause, he needs to shut his face and let someone who knows what they're talking about and who can make a case without misrepresenting reality take control. I don't know... maybe one of those *scientist* guys, I've heard they're pretty cool sometimes.
