GMD Poll: Top Ten Albums of 1993

Looooove Schizophrenia. And agree they never really recaptured what they had going on with that release.

Personally I find it hard to choose between Schizophrenia, Beneath the Remains and Arise. All of them are great and what I regard as "true" Sepultura.

Post-Max, I have a thing for Against. It's a one-of-its-kind album to say the least.

Yep, Focus is legendary. Don't need to say too much about it. Elements is good, but pales in comparison to the Atheist's first 2 albums. And Dimensions is my favourite Believer album. In fact Believer is the only Christian-metal band I like.

1. Life of Agony - River Runs Red
2. Melvins - Houdini
3. Mercyful Fate - In the Shadows
4. Entombed - Wolverine Blues
5. Sepultura - Chaos A.D.
6. Motörhead - Bastards
7. Accept - Objection Overruled
8. Morbid Angel - Covenant
9. Shihad - Churn
10. Cathedral - The Ethereal Mirror

HM:
Anthrax - Sound of White Noise
Earth - Earth 2: Special Low Frequency Version

The Shihad album might be a bit borderline but at least sounds more metal to me than the likes of Alice in Chains and others that've been listed in other years.

Wait, what? People have been listing Alice In Chains? Hopefully not in this thread considering their output in '93 was an acoustic EP. I listed Tool myself, which is pretty borderline.

When I said "other years" I was including my mention of AiC in that. They made a few lists in the 1992 thread and one in the 1995 thread as well. We haven't done 1990 yet.

There's a possibility I might even nominate Facelift myself for the 1990 one.

Seconding these and Tourniquet have their moments but are a mixed bag like many bands

Well, I'm certainly reaching my quota of Christian-metal for the day. Just listened to a few cuts from Psycho Surgery, Tourniquet are an interesting band. Kinda a groove-thrash-glam hybrid that has a singer who sounds like Lemmy occasionally. Not bad at all.

That one was probably my least favourite of the Place of Skulls stuff. It's probably cliche but my pick would be Nailed.

Also, isn't there a whole thread dedicated to Christian metal? Probably a good extensive source for this topic, knowing the autism of GMD.
