Man that Aeternus has fallen off hard for me recently. Good album but it lacks riffs and the atmosphere doesn't hit like it used to. Won't even make the list this time

also, did we decide Scald's Will of the Gods is Great Power was a 1996 release? It's confirmed 1997 in the liner notes of the recent High Roller reissue

I consider that Scald album 1997. Don't remember where I landed back then.

beyond the wandering moon is a lot better when you skip 'sentinels of darkness' tbh, kinda stops the album in its tracks. 'embraced' isn't that good either. picks up again after that though. i do tend to reach more for the sophomore these days, it's messier but just more dynamic, one of the most straight up listenable albums ever imo.
