Off the top of my head I can think of the two Eldrig albums, Dodheimsgard, Worship, Furze, Hour of 13, and a few maybes like Abigor, Sear Bliss, Deathspell Omega. Haven't heard the Reverend Bizarre album yet but heard good things about it, same with the Lunar Aurora album.

2007 isn't that bad compared to some of the other 00s. Off the top of my head I can think of the two Eldrig albums, Dodheimsgard, Worship, Furze, Hour of 13, and a few maybes like Abigor, Sear Bliss, Deathspell Omega. Haven't heard the Reverend Bizarre album yet but heard good things about it, same with the Lunar Aurora album.

We have done quite a few other 2000s years and they’ve all been much better than this imo. 2009 especially. Looking through the rym list, there’s nothing too exciting in the top 50. Andacht is one of the best things I’ve heard from this year and it’s not amazing or anything.

I haven’t heard that particular Abigor album, but I also haven’t liked anything they’ve released post Supreme Immortal Art. Maybe I’ll give it a listen.

I’ve heard an Eldrig album or two and they didn’t compare to the first two Fanisk. Seemed completely overblown in a way the latter isn’t. But I’m up for giving them another shot, because I love that style of black metal when it’s done well.

i dunno if i’ll participate in this one given the lack of albums i really like, but i should probably spend some time with the dodheimsgard and rev biz albums given how many friends jerk it over them. hour of 13 is easily my #1 as things stand.

Agreed. The Craft of Contradiction is otherworldly in terms of riffs.

maybe its about time i give that Dodheimsgard album a shot. It was a freebie with one of my orders from a while back but i still haven't checked it out.
