Godflesh

I AGREE!!!!!!!!!!

Godflesh is great. Last I heard, they are done. That's too bad. Hymns was a great way to go. Stripped down. Nothing more than the raw Godflesh. Every album they put out is great in some way. Even 'Us and Them'. I don't listen to it near as much as the others, though. My favorite might be pure. What's your favorite?

Wow...good question.Which one IS my fav.Pure was a good choice. It's one of their most rawest and and bleek sounding.I love them all so fuck'n much it's a hard one.I'd probably have to go with a 3 album choice here hahahaha.First being Selfless as it was the one that got me into the band.Songs like Body Dome Light,Crush My Soul,Xynobis,Imperial.Absolute gems.2nd would have to be Streetcleaner. It just rips my fucking head off everytime i listen to it.3rd has to be Songs Of Love And Hate.Again...it just rips my guts out, stamps on it and force feeds me the remaing grool.Good choice on Pure though man.I hail that album. Many a depressing night has been spent with that turned up to maximum.I'm also a fan of Justins Techno Animal project. The only disc i have is Brotherhood Of The Bomb but am hungry for more.Curse Of The Golden Vampire is another one of his that he did with Alec Empire which is of high Quality that i have. It'll be very interesting what Jesu will sound like.Keen as to hear it.

I might have to check into Techno Animal. I've had the recent setback of nobody to write music with. So . . . I think I'll take the Justin Broderick approach and do it all myself (I know he had a little help). I'm going to try for the punishing grooves that he was so good at.

To bad you don't live in Brisbane Australia man.I'd love to start something up in the vein of Godflesh/Isis/Neurosis.I think my flat mate and myself are the only ones in this city who really likes that style of music.

Godflesh fans are few and far between i have noticed.But...i seem to like it like that to tell you the truth.I like to keep them all to my self so to speak.I think the obscuraty is one thing i definetly dig about them.

And Pure is so daunting isn't it.I listened to that again after posting this ....erm,post.indeed it is one of my favourites.Baby Blue Eye's,Predominance and Mothra kill.

Has anyone heard the Messiah e.p.?I'd like to hear some thoughts on that.

I don't have the Messiah EP. When was it released?

BTW, what does everybody think about the change to straight-forward metal on 'Hymns'. I know they did the real drum thing before, but I think 'Hymns' is their most "organic" sounding record. I really enjoy it.

The Messiah e.p. was a release only avaolable to bye from Avalancheinc.com web-site.Came out just before Hymns.

Hymns was the perfect swansong.I to believe it to be the more organic sounding of their releases. To me it reminded me alot of Selfless in sound and structure.Defintetly dig both sides of the flesh, with that i mean with drums and without.Would have loved to have seen where the new line-up would have taken them.Guess we'll never know.

Does anybody know exactly what caused the break-up? It seemed like all of a sudden, everybody wanted out. What's up with that? I also heard Justin had a breakdown of some sort. Somebody please set me straight.

Well...going by what i've read in Terrorizer and on the crumbling flesh web-site,the break up occurd when they were about to launch into an overseas tour.Just when they were boarding the plane,Justin sustained a nasty nervous breakdown. He later went on to explain that ever since J.C. Green left,he thought Godflesh couldn't truly continue on.These thoughts came to an ugly head on the beggining of the tour, resulting in the aformentioned breakdown. He duely apoligised to Parsons and Raven for the events, and the rest is history.
So iv'e read.
