Godheads Lament

This was the first opeth song I heard.
Same! I remember when i first heard it (i was actively listening to '3hrs of power', trying to find a really good extreme band, i knew id like one of them), the opening riff came on and i thought "hmmm". Then the whole middle of the song came on and i thought ":)".

Opening riff is horrible. Song would been much better if the first minute and a half was scrapped.

Huh...this thread went from "I LOVE THE BEGINNING OF THS SONG!" to "I THINK IT BLOWS."

I think it's pretty good. There aren't many parts of Opeth's work that I don't like. I remember I hated the way "In" sounded at the beginning of BRI. I thought it sounded so gay. Then after a while...it sounded wicked rather than stupid.

:spin:

In the name of desperation,
I call your name.
A lamentation I sigh,
Again and again.

That is actually how I heard it, on 3HoP, and that is exactly how I felt.

And then at the finale riff, I cummed my pants.

And Wolff, no, naughty naughty, no, no, no, NO!

GOTO YOUR ROOM!!!!

and Opet, what "in" part... eh??

Kushantaiidan: "...and Opet, what "in" part... eh?"

Eh. I should have added that to the "words I use too often" thread. When I said "I hated the way "In" sounded at the beginning of BRI" I meant just that. At the beginning of the song, the very first word - "In the name of desperation, I call your name..." At first I hated it, because I felt it sounded terrible. I liked it after a while though. It sounds...like I said wicked! Mean. Evil. It sounds hard to do also in such a low tone as he does.

THAT'S ALL! :)

"Spiritual eclipse.
The gateways are closed for me to seek."

Brilliant song, and Especially the beginning. One of the very best Opeth moments. Anyone who doesn't like the opening riff, has weak ears! (grins, ducks, runs)
