I'm not saying they're the greatest band alive or anything, they just put on a good show. Shitty setlist, but I can only imagine how good it would be with a better setlist.

I've now seen Korn and Dragonforce live, and I'd honestly rather see guitarists who kinda suck but have decent riffs instead of Dragonforce, who actually play crappy anyway but at a million miles an hour. I wanted to shove white-hot pokers through my eyes at Dragonforce's show.

I think people are still reeling from nu metal and being associated with it. It's still like a four letter word. I personally can't stand nu metal and the only albums I like, as I said, are the first two Korn albums. A little teenage angst-y, but what the hell. It's a fuckload better than this screamo and metalcore bullshit.

The best concert I've ever seen was Marilyn Manson; maybe not musically but as far as the actual stage show goes, it doesn't get any better. I've seen every single metal band that I've ever wanted to see at least once (with the exception of Emperor and Carcass...and I'll see Carcass in the coming months) and still no one comes close to him. I really don't care for his music but his live show is just fucking unbelievable.

You know a band that I just can't get into? Mastodon. Their jazzy tempos are cool and everything, but it just leaves me empty. I listened to the entire album and it's just like background music. The only song I really like is March of the Fire Ants I believe it's called.

Gimme some Gorefest instead.

and as far as musicianship goes... obviously they don't set out to "wow" with the skills. but people who hate the simplicity and catchiness of "chugga-chugga" nu-metal guitar work generally think Heartwork is better than Carcass's older stuff.

Heartwork was a severe departure from the gore death metal Carcass used to play...it's much more catchy and headbanging-inducing. She's kinda making fun of everyone who shits on guitarists who play with simplicity, even when the simplicity can be the best part of it.

not saying i don't love heartwork. i just like symphonies of sickness much better. but i also love dry kill logic's first cd, which track for track pretty much matches the catchiness in the hooks of Heartwork.
