We had a tragedy in the family last week, and I had to go to Melbourne to support Dad at his younger brother's funeral.

Covered a bucketload of kms (just under 2000) since 9AM Monday morning, most of it travelling alone.

There was a great moment while out the back of Wagga Wagga, when I had "Great Southern Land" playing, and was driving along a dead straigh bit of road, with the stubble of last summer's crops being burned off.

It's an amazing country that we live in, and you can only see it when you're alone, in a car.

Shame about the reason you had to make the trip man. :(

I know what you mean - Australia's fantastic like that.

Tell me about it gore.... even though we spent a massive portion of it totally encassed in fog when we toured to Adelaide. Seriously, I think the sun didn't "come up" till nearly 4pm because the fog was so damn thick. Now that I think back, we shouldn't have been driving in it at all!

 When I went up to Brissy with Psi.Kore years ago we went up the NE Highway with fog so thick in some places it was clinging to the sides of the van, but we were all so wired on caffeine and nicotine that we couldn't care less.

I've not been to Mildura in fucking ages (maybe 25 years).

Funny at the short notice family reunion, meeting cousins I'd not seen for over a decade.

I suggested to Dad later that next time we all get together (maybe as a reunion for a change) we wear name tags.

"Steve, son of Jim and Verlene, of the clan of Marshall"
"Robert, son of Vernon and Merlene, of the clan of Kendall"
"Aragorn, son of Arathorn, of the line of Kings" and such.
