Hi guys I am looking for a new bass guitar in the last year, but I just can't find something good.

Can you recommend me some bass guitars for less than 1k Euro?
It is for playing with my power/heavy metal band and recording.

Oh, please move this one to Equipment, sorry!

Actually... what I would like to have is a bass with 3 band eq and I really want it black.
And yeah, sansamp is great!

That's about £700 at the current exchange rate, that'll get you an awesome bass.

I'd get either a Schecter Stilleto Studio, a used Warwick Corvette Std or an Ibanez SR500 bass. All three are excellent quality basses, the Ibanez has Bartolini EQ and p/up's too, which sound really nice.

Then either a Sansamp BDDI or the Ampeg SVX plug-in for your tone.

Yeah, Ibanez SR500 looks like a great option. Thanks for this advice!

I don't like the look of the Corvette and I don't know anything about this Schecter basses :)

Check out the Ibanez BTB555 MP. I just bought one after numerous recommendations by pro-bassists over many of the mentioned basses (Fender Mexico Jazz Bass, Schecter Stiletto and Warwick ones), and I really like it so far. I also had a Mexico Jazz Bass borrowed from our drummer in Relativity, and I much prefer the neck, sustain and sound of the BTB555 to it :)

Don't forget the ESP's. I have three, and they all sound and play great. Much better than any Ibby I've played and they absolutely slay my friend's Musicman (although, he probably bought a cheap one). I'd recommend staying above the LTD 200 series, and if you can, go for the 400 series.

I would suggest against getting an Ibanez. They have no mids, and turning them up sounds crap. I don't think they are well suited to metal, despite many people thinking they are (Probably because of Korn). The Bartolini's most come with now make them sound nice and tight but yeh... no mids = fail.

Fender P/J bass is always a safe option, not very good looking though.

Musicman basses pwn Fender, and they look roughly the same, just better.

If you can get a real Warwick for under yuo price range, that will be a good choice. Try for a Corvette FNA Jazzman or Corvette $$, they are pretty killer lookin' and have that awesome growl.

I recently bought a Warwick Corvette $$, they look like this:

ESP make well priced basses too, and I think sound and look better that Ibanez, but they lack those all important mids too.

I personaly don't really like too midy bass sounds, but thanks for your answer. How much did this Corvette cost for you?

When I say it has good mids, I don't mean they are loud, I mean they sound good. So if you do want loud mids, you can EQ them up and it won't sound lame, and if you don't want loud mids, you can do the usual mid scoop.

I got mine around 1500 Australian (Pretty cheap, 'cause everything cost way too much here). So thats maybe 1200 US? Don't know how much they are in different parts of the world.

I was endorsed by Ernie Ball, I play Fender now. Fenders are better to me. I don't think a musicman "slays" it at all. I do like the musicman, but I prefer passive pickups.

I also owned a corvette...it was ok..great for live, decent for tracking...but once again active, which can be a noisy PITA.

The Ibanez bartollinis are horrible. I had one of those years ago and it just was a hissfestival.
