Good luck to Turkey !!

GGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
half time brazil 0 turkey 1..
pleeeassee.pleeasee end like this...

The ref was as blind as a Belgian sniper!
Of course it was out of the box!
Of course every Turkish freekick was blocked by a Brazilian defender moving too early!
And of course that ball didn't hit Rivaldo's fucking face!
But what happened?
We had a penalty.
None of the Brazilian defenders were yellow-carded for moving before our freekicks, and none of our freekicks were repeated.
And Hakan Ünsal got a red card for passing the ball to Rivaldo at the corner flag!!!

With such poor defensive positioning, we did deserve to lose the match. But did Brazil deserve to win it? Or did Brazil need that disabled referee to win the match?

Anyway, we still have a team in the World Cup and we have all to play for. I just hope our next defeat will be at the hands of our rivals, not the fucking referees.

From Eurosport's live coverage on the Web site:

13.05 : Tough day for Senol Gunes' men who played a good match but will be feeling awkward tonight after having two players sent off (Alpay and Hakan Unsal) and of course losing their opener in the closing stages of the match.

13.02 : Well there you go, Brazil win their opening game of the World cup... To be perfectly honest, Brazil probably deserve their win but the referee was far from perfect... Twice he let the Brazilian defenders remain just a few metres from the ball on dangerous free-kicks and of course, there's that penalty that should have been a frre-kick from outside the box.

---------
From Umut's Cup Trivia archieve,

European Championships, 2000...
Turkey loses first match to group favorites Italy... 1-2... Ref flamed after match for ridiculous penalty decision...
Second match vs the average team of the group, Sweden... 0-0... Pretty dull match...
Third match vs the weakest of the group... Turkey has to win this time... 2-0... Turkey through to the q-finals.

World Cup, 2002...
Turkey loses first match to group favorites Brazil... 1-2... Ref flamed after match for ridiculous penalty decision...
Second match vs the average team of the group, Costa Rica...
And 3rd match vs the weakest, China...
What will happen this time? Will the Turks play when it matters, and make it through to the 2nd stage to hopefully face the Belgians?

---------------------
Btw, Jan, do you honestly believe it is possible to score against Brazil with a 10-0-0 formation? And is that what you perceive from 51 to 49% possession and 8 to 6 shots on goal? Actually, you can tease me without resorting to silliness, if you try really REALLY hard ;) :D

----------------------
And finally:

Well,Brazil had most of the dangerous possesions BUT we can't blame our keeper Rustu had held the ball...
But that fucking referee, what was he thinking..
I can't explain how angery and sad I am...
It's very funny that brazil needed the help of the referee to win..
This is unfair...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHH...

I completely agree with this!!!

My opinion:
1. Turkey played very well but Brazil deserved the victory.
2. Alpay is Umy's twin brother.
3. About the Turkish free kicks, you're absolutely right.
4. It was not a penalty, and I really really hoped Rivaldo would miss it
5. Hakan Ünsal did shoot the ball at Rivaldo therefore the card was right. Of course it did not hit Rivaldo in the face and that makes him a petty little fucker.
6. On the other hand, Rivaldo's header wasn't from offside so it should have been 2-1 anyway, penalty or not.
7. Oh, and before the situation when Ünsal was sent off, the ball did not leave the field AND Rüstü's goal was unguarded so after all Turkey was lucky with that corner.
8. Rüstü forgot to wash his face before the game :D
9. The ref was not cheating he was simply stupid (in fact, it was the linesman with the penalty-situation, he should have seen where it had happened!!)
10. I really hope Turkey will reach the quarter finals at least!
11. It was very good game after all.
+1. Hungary is the only team still unbeaten by Brazil ;)

a couple of points:

5. Yes, Unsal did shoot the ball, not simply pass it... I understood that when I saw the highlights of the game. I must have been overly-subjective with my first comment, but I was overly-frustrated by the referee, as probably was Unsal when he kicked that ball.
6. Rivaldo's header was definitely offside. Better watch the replay.
9. Of course the ref was not cheating. He has too low an IQ to do that. He was stupid, yes, but not "simply" stupid... He was "quite amazingly" the 2nd stupidest football ref I have ever seen in my life.

Oh, and why didn't Hasan Sas show any sign of delight after his goal??

because:

1. One goal does not seal the match.
2. Scoring against Brazil is no extra-ordinary thing.
3. Hasan Sas is fucking cool.

1.I think it WAS offside...
2.You can't say they deserve to win..If they couldn't score it's their problem...And if rustu saved so what? They can be attacking all the time but we were defending very well so what?
If it was a fair match I think the result would be a draw..
3.Unsal's sent off was absolutely right...You are playing in the world cup stupid idiot..Think of the other matches...

Baris, we were defending like primary school kids. There are no wide defensive gaps allowed in modern football, especially if you are playing against forwards such as Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho. We put up a nice fight, yes, I agree that we deserved at least a draw, but let's be fair with the Brazilians, they did not beat us by walking around.

What utterly confused me was the replacement of Basturk. What the hell was Senol Gunes thinking there???!?

Well I didn't go in to deep detail because I know that I'll have a match critic with you...
Of course brazilians were good but it was definately the referee who gave the match...If it would be 3-0 or 5-0 I wouldn't be so sad..
Don't say senol gunes to me...I am turning red with anger..
He substituted the best man..
off offf with so much idiots and we are in the world cup..

1 - Forget the game its over...

2 - There were two things in the game that rocked:

Hasan Sas teased two Brasilians by turning around the ball and he did it twice at a time

Ilhan Mansiz !!!FUCKED!!! Roberto Carlos with this Rainbow Kick near the throw in line then Carlos fouled him but not got a yellow card...

So with these two moves, these two players were more "Brasilish" then the real Brasillians.

Anyway...we'll demolish Costa Rica and China anyway

And i pray to god that we'd have another match with Brasil in this tournament cos we have a work to complete.

We are a good team... Period.

World saw it today, would see again.

Yes. I'd put it this way: Unsal looked like as a 8-year-old playing football in the school courtyard; that fucker Rivaldo looked like a professional fucker. I'm sure he had provoked Unsal.

6. Rivaldo's header was definitely offside. Better watch the replay.

I watched twice and for me it was clear that Rivaldo and the defender stood in line in that moment. I'm 100% sure but I'll watch it again, ok? :)

2. No??? Check Barbi's post, the 3rd post in this thread! :D Personally I think scoring a goal against anybody is a wonderful feeling, great joy. Especially against the football god Brazilians in a World Cup for a team that couldn't make it to the WC for 50 years... But I agree he is cool :)

2.You can't say they deserve to win..If they couldn't score it's their problem...And if rustu saved so what? They can be attacking all the time but we were defending very well so what?

Of course you have a point Barbi but then you can't complain about what have happened... By your logic you can't say you deserved a point in a fair game... The penalty was given, goal, period. But I think you got me wrong. I said Brazil deserved the win because I'm pretty sure Rivaldo was not on offside when he put that header beyond Rüstü.

So with these two moves, these two players were more "Brasilish" then the real Brasillians.

Yes those were beautiful moments but let's not forget about Denílson who could not be tackled more then once during the 30 minutes he was on the field (and he did show some of those "rainbows" to the turk defence), or Ronaldo, or Cafu for that matter. :)

Scoring against Brazil is no extraordinary thing, because their defensive rating has always been "wretched" by Hattrick standards ;)
Yes, we made it to the finals after such a long time. Yes, Brazil are the 4-time world champions... So what? The past is in the past (but some Hungarians fail to get it :D ), what matters is now, we have a decent team and finding the Brazilian net is no problem for us.
And that header was definitely offside
I've watched it 4 times and Rivaldo was about half a meter off when the ball was kicked!

Btw, Rustu had that paint below his eyes, because he wants to avoid light reflection (either from the sun or the floodlights, depending on the time of day). Judging by his performance last night, one would say it does work :)

P.S. Alpay is not my twin brother, he's a sick son of a bitch with a habit of getting red-carded at the very first match of every major internatioal tournament
