I still don't get it. "Almost anything" doesn't make sense.

So which topic was this again...oh yes.

Semi-:headbang:

oh god... must be the catatonic state I usually enter after lunch...

I meant that he did almost everything... music, lyrics, production, mixing, photos, graphic...

hope it's clear, now...

Yes indeed it is. By the way, about graphics, the BE booklet looks awesome. The cover works really well as well. I think that the small pictures in particular are great, even though some of them (Dea Pecunaie, pic 28 for example) are also unintentionally funny.
I found it pretty interesting that where as Fredrik wrote Iter Impius, it seems that Daniel wrote Pluvius Aestivus, even though it's almost completely a piano track. Wonder what instrument he wrote it with (I don't think he can play piano)?

The Bible quote/speech at the start of this song is actually one of the vocal parts that work, but then it's more on the background. But I really like how it ties in with the song's concept. Even if the Bible isn't good for anything else, it's got good stories.

Of course we're forever.

incidentally, if you look the booklet again, you'll notice that there's a mistake: in the pages where there should be written "Pluvius Aestivius" (the ones with the man under the rain) there's written "Iter Impius"... at least in my copy!

I know, but if you look at the booklet again, it says, and this is a direct quote, "except 'Iter Impius': music by Fredrik Hermansson and lyric by Daniel Gildenlöw". Now, Pluvius Aestivus (that's what it should read, not Iter Impius or Pluvius Aestivius either, aren't titles in Latin-English fun? ;)) has no lyrics, so I don't think it's logical that Fredrik would've written Pluvius Aestivus (or Iter Impius, if it was really the 4th song).

Daniel going for it sounds 'kin great.
Also, the quiet singing (kind of an oxymoron) makes me teary-eyed most of the time. Probably not now, but still.

I'm never crossing that line
Leaving this world behind
I will stay on my own

@TFH: got your suggestion on the other thread :D so here I go

I didn't mean that, I mean, I know that the fourth track is really Pluvius Aestivius and that the other track is Iter Impius and that is written by Fredrik... I just wanted to point out the funny error in the booklet, since we were speaking of the same two songs! but alas, sometimes it's difficult to communicate in a language that's not mine...
for the titles, I'm italian, but I don't know a single word in Latin, so I can't say if they're correct or not

Ruler of ruin!

Daniel has the power to bring me to tears in too much occasions! he is such an emotive singer... but the more "tearful" performance of his is on "Oblivion Ocean" from the first album...

There's a million tearful performances that PoS offers. :) I wouldn't start putting them in line from best to "worst"...but yes, Oblivion Ocean is certainly emotional. I've got a drawing about it drawn in my head, but alas, I cannot draw. One day, when I have time, will and patience to do it, I will do it.
I hope this "one day" comes one day too. I will buy a thousand DVDs on this day, finally listen to Dance Of Death and seemingly start drawing this drawing.

Now, the most emotional (who said what about listing just now?) PoS moment:
For stealing what could've been MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Inhuman.

There's some wordplay in the BE titles...like Nihil Morari, for example. "Nihil", as even some non-Latin learners might know, means "nothing". "Morari", however, means "remains", a noun. Remains of a building is probably the meaning that should spring up when you think of the BE concept and the song. Obviously if you take it like that "nothing remains" doesn't make sense, even though it does in English. So basically Daniel is using the wrong word in order to create the wordplay and images based on it. It's interesting.
More talk about the song titles and an e-mail reply from Daniel here.

Rows of houses all bearing down on me
I can feel their blue hands touching me
All these things into position
All these things we'll one day swallow whole
And fade out again and fade out

This machine will not communicate
These thoughts and the strain I am under
Be a world child, form a circle
Before we all go under
And fade out again and fade out again

Cracked eggs, dead birds
Scream as they fight for life
I can feel death, can see it's beady eyes
All these things into position
All these things we'll one day swallow whole
And fade out again and fade out again

Immerse your soul in love
Immerse your soul in love.

*hugs Hiljainen*
Hope whatever ills (that's not a word, think of "ill") you eases up.

Ah, it was "ails". Whatever ails you. Still, *hugs*

every time Daniel pushes his voice to its limits, switching between screams and softer parts, I feel a shiver down my spine, no matter how many times I've heard that part...

thx for the link to the forum! I didn't know it

I'll leave now this can't continue
But I forget which door I came through
And I know that the lift can be painfully slow
So I'm happy to leave by the window

I'm in a mood for Porcupine Tree. Oh god.

i can't stop myself. :erk:

you live in a world of excess

a day without fame is a waste
and a question of need is a question of taste

you're so

it gets you so much attention
your sole

is just getting more
you want police intervention

you live in a time of decay
when the worth of a man is how much he can play
every day all the public must know
where you are, what you do 'cause your life is a show and

you're so

I really tried to like VNV Nation, and some parts of them I do, but as a band, no. I simply can't stand that constant boring beat (umtsi umtsi, Finns would know what I'm talking about) that is the basis for most of the songs, even if there's a bunch of keyboards on top of it. They should scrap the techno and make some ambient.
