Im fairly new to this site , firstly i'd like to say holy crap this thing is like a bible and now back to the matter at hand. I've probably got at most £150 ($250?) to spend on a pre-amp and you guys probably know a whole lot more about value for money so fire away with suggestions :)

Yeah, best to save up more and go used if you want best bang for buck.

Around the £400 mark you've got the ART MPA, Audient MICO, FMR RNP, and DBX 386, Focusrite ISA One. Probably more. All have their own pro's and con's, so do some research and keep you eye on ebay.

great sounding unit for the price! the HiZ in sounds really damn good for recording guitar DIs, and the tube blend is great to add some grit to vocals, depends on the vocalist though.

There's nothing at that price that will give you any benefit over what you have in your interface.
