I love vampires but honestly, I can't ever say I've trully been impressed by any. I have seen many of the well-known ones but maybe there are some lesser known movies I'm not aware of?

Interview With the Vampire (minus the actors), Embrace of the Vampire, The Addiction, Nadja for example are some of the better ones I've seen. Eternal, Queen of the Damned, Vampire Clan were alright...

If anyone can recommend any - as I've said if its a well-known movie I've probably already checked it out. Maybe something recent and with a bit more feel to it, not like those lame hollywood action flicks like Blade or anything really about killing vampres...I want something darker, gothic, maybe more romantic even?

Nicholas cage did a movie called "VAmpires Kiss" I belive, It was fucking great. Also get- Shadow of the Vampire. Fucking great movie. Willem defoe was amazing in this- Get this now!!!!!

If you are looking for something gothic and romantic I could only recommend the Vampire Chronicles novels by Anne Rice. I haven't read all of them (there are many) but I especially liked Lestat the Vampire. Very well written with some great visual imagery, reads well with some good dark music too!

cheers

I've seen part of Shadow of the Vampire, but I've never seen that Nicolas Cage movie (due to him being in it)...maybe I should give it a try, I just find him really lame as an actor.

And I've read one of her books, I enjoyed it but unfortunately I don't read as much as I'd like to mainly because I have no idea what's out there and it's hard to 'judge a book by its cover' so to speak to get a feel if maybe I'd enjoy it. But defintely more along the lines of Anne Rice I am interested in.

I really wish people would make more films about Vampires :p

Nosferatu - the original and best.

Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula is excellent too.

And for comedy/schlock, go for Dusk til Dawn.

Well I should definitely check out Nosferatu, I've been meaning to actually.
But I've seen the other two. From Dusk Till Dawn, I liked the first half but it kinda turned a bit cheesy afterwards, I guess that was the point though.

You would think... :erk: I did come across a indie film company that either made alot of indie vampire movies or distributed other company's movies.. unfortunately I can't remember the name... but if you do a good enough google search perhaps you'll run across it... but i did a google search and came across this which might help decide on some films: http://www.oddfilms.com/vampire.htm

As for Interview with The Vampire to tell you the truth I thought all the actors in it played their parts perfectly. Don't let your hatred for Cruise or the others (or Nicolas Cage in his movie) cloud your judgement on the acting in that movie. If you read the book and watched the movie I think you would agree they did a good job (just wish more scenes from the book were included in the movie). To be honest when I heard this movie was being made back then and heard Cruise and Pitt would be Lestat and Louis I thought the movie would suck and i was surprised it wasn't and was pretty faithful to the book with minor changes. We think of Cruise and Pitt as pretty boys that can't act but in that movie they proved otherwise. Even Anne Rice admitted to this after the movie was made since she was so against Cruise being Lestat. Now Queen of the Damned was horrible and the actor that played Lestat was nothing compared to Cruises's Lestat.

As for From Dusk Til Dawn. It's not suppose to be taken as a serious movie much less a serious Vampire movie. It's suppose to be a fun all around action movie and to me it delivered. And come on but Salma Hayek's dance on the table for Quentin Tarantino to me was the most erotic inducing dance I ever seen on film. I was honestly in awe of her in that scene like the characters were when they watched her dance (maybe I'm a little biased because i been in lust with her since the movie Desperado  ). :worship:

Interview with the Vampire is the ONLY one you'll ever need. That movie is freaking fantastic. Best Vampire film I have seen, for sure. And what's wrong with the actors? Perfectly cast I say.

Haha, another good one is The Lost Boys, for something a little more less serious.

:kickass: + 10. Sorry, I HAD to quote this! I agree with everything except I have always been a fan of Cruise and Pitt's acting. Vanilla Sky, Minority Report and The Last Samurai - this man does a fantastic job. As for Pitt, well...he's usually just ok, but he has proven himself in particular films like Kalifornia and 12 Monkeys.

Yeah...I really liked that movie, but really didn't like the actors. Cruise was meh/alright, Brad Pitt was surprisingly good so I didn't mind him. I don't like either one, but I hate Tom Cruise. Generally though I dislike movies that are stacked with big names, and I honestly would rather prefer watching a movie with actors whom I'm not familiar with, minus a few perhaps.

I thought the Vampire Lestat was the best of the vampire series. Read the first two books you'd probably like them.

My favorite book by her is definetly Interview.. but I was also liked The Vampire Armand when I lost the book in someone's car.. have to buy it again.. and i was reading The Witching Hour and was liking it but I just hate that one characters name: Lasher.... just a stupid name imo.. reminds me of the word Slasher and his character isn't really like that... she could of came up with a better name...

As for Cruise and Pitt... yes they are good actors.. people just hate them because of their pretty boy persona's... Cruise was good in The Last Samurai, Jerry Macguire etc... and Pitt was wicked in 12 Monkeys... Antonio Banderas is another pretty boy people don't like and I thought he was great as Armand with his accent...
