Yeah, so I'm a gear whore. While I don't always plan on owning all the gear I see, I do, however, like to know what's good and what's not worth my time.
I play in a slavic folk band and the keyboardist keeps asking me why i don't get a Wah pedal to spice up my leads (which I would be doing at home for playing metal too). From what i've seen, they're all pretty expensive for something i'd only use a little bit- but IF I'm to ever get one, I wouldn't want it to be a crappy waste of money.
I've been looking at the Dunlop 95Q and the Crybabay From Hell. They seem to be the more readily adjustable ones.
What are your experiances with Wah's? Is there any other model you would recomend? I'm not really trying to emulate anyone, and would like some level of adjustment.

Cheers for any sugestions.

I just realised I haven't ever actually played a wah...
Wolfeman: is that Wylde wah shrill in its highest position? I read about it, but the "it goes higher than other wah's" turned me off it a bit.

Ok, I just realised/ rememberd that I have a Wah in my old Zoom 707II. I plugged it in and tried it out....remember me saying before that i'm only researching what I should stay away from? Well that definately falls under that list :Puke: :Puke: :Puke:
It's probably ok for like, funk or something, but even then, the wah is very touchy. Not all that "smooth" in it's transition.
I guess i'm definately more interested in pedals with adjustable features.

...Ok, now that i've started looking around, i'm pretty interested in getting one when I get some cash together. Though, when it comes to gear, i like to have a decent research period before I buy, where I compare and try a few of my favourites.
Cheers again for all your help.

The 95Q mentioned in the original post is very underrated and a killer wah that not many people seem to use. The adjustable Q, auto on/off, and the boost (awesome for making the wah effect more pronounced with high gain) are all excellent, useful features. I love mine.

+1 Yes! Warm, not shrill or fizzy and no fucking CLICK when you switch it on/off. That pedal is kicking all wah pedal asses into oblivion. Period.

Question:

Have they improved the switching mechanism in these? I tried on about 8 years ago (roughly) and it didn't auto turn on fast enough so it was awkward. I also noticed that you couldn't rock it all the way back or it killed the wah effect.

I will have to give one a try sometime.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but i am interested in getting a wah. Looking at the dime and wylde ones. Whats your opinions?

my opinion about mirrors the one above

i freakin' love my 95Q...no stupid click or anything when you turn it off, although it can lag for a second when you took your foot off...the boost, adjustable Q...it's just all-around sweet, and built like a tank.

another sweet part is that you can engage the boost switch on the side and turn the actual wah knob down all the way, and boom! instant volume pedal.
