got a free guitar last night...

i don't know if it's the "original", but it does have "edge made in japan" stamped on the inside of the trem block

not sure if that's supposed to be a good or bad thing lol

The original Edge trems were awesome...by far my favorite of all of their trems. If you can take some closer pics we can let you know what you've got :)

it's a bitch to read it in that second one due to the cellphone pic, but it has IBANEZ EDGE stamped on there

also, i've already decided that i'm going to fill in not only all the hoels & cracks and repaint the body, but i also want to fill in the spaces for the single coils, tone knob, and pickup switch. hopefully when i'm done with, it'll look something like this:

so much from i can tell by the serial #, it's a 1990 RG570 - on top of that the pots are broken, knobs and back covers missing, and it's also strung left-handed

Pots are not there coz the gtr was played left handed and would get in the way. The owner could have found a more elegant solution though.....

i stand corrected...i looked that shit up at like 4AM, so i'm not surprised i got the model #'s mixed up

either way i'm still stoked!

man i just remembered i used to also own the red artist in the bottom right of this pic...was prob. the sweetest playing guitar i've ever owned, but it weighed more than any i've ever seen also!

I have a really old Ibanez neck that is not cracked if your interested. It does not have the new aanj style bolt pattern on it. I think it would fit your guitar. I could take some pictures of it this weekend and post them if you want.

I had an RG 570 years ago when I had NO idea how to actually play guitar (come again, I still don't) and it had the same exact neck crack. I wish I still had the pics I took of it to sell on eBay so I could compare them, but from memory it's the same exact thing.

On the good side, that neck was ultra-fast and easy to play on. I sold it for around $300 on the Bay when I got rid of it, so picking up a project for free and dropping a few bucks on it is a steal no matter what!

DO IT!

for sure

i figure i can spend $200-250 on it and end up with a guitar that plays and sounds like it's worth considerably more, so i'm pumped either way!

My wife went away to visit her family this weekend and took the camera. I will take some pictures tomorrow night after work.
