got a free guitar last night...

One of my 4 main guitars is an 89 RG560. You should be able to get it up to spec no problem (a cracked neck isnt really a big deal - it'll be the strongest part of the neck after its glued).

The Edge on mine is as stable as any OFR, schaller or gotoh I've used, and its the original trem. Check it over, but I wouldnt expect any problem with it (unless its been divebombed to hell and back for 20 years).

Have a look inside the neck join for cracks in the heel too; a common problem with old RGs.

yea there's a crack along the outside of neck heel, but as far as i can tell it's only in the finish

*crosses fingers*

and midget, pics of that neck would def. be much appreciated...and just PM me or something with whatever price you're asking if you're not the type who likes dropping numbers out in the open!

already did! i took the thing completely apart and cleaned it and re-assembled it already...couldn't see any cracking on the inside of the heel

Here are those pics. They are done with a old camera with a pretty low resolution, but you get the idea. It has some scratches in the paint but no cracks in the neck. See if the bolt hole pattern looks like it matches your body. I would measure it right now but I don't have a tape measure handy.

sweet deal, it definitely looks like it would fit...do you know how much you'd want for it?

i just found another on ebay that would also fit - not sure if there's any cracks in the neck or not, they didn't show pics of the back or mention it...i tried asking the seller what the deal is, but haven't gotten an answer and the auction ends in 47 minutes

now i don't know WTF to do, lol

well, i heard back from the buyer before the auction ended and they claim there's no cracks in that neck, so i put in a bid and ended up winning...i would've loved to have a neck with the shark tooth inlays, but $67 was too cheap to pass up!

i might still hit you up on your offer though if i run into any snags with the ebay neck - i really want some proof that the neck is structurally intact, and will ask the buyer for pics of the problem area before i send payment...but assuming everything goes well with the sale, i still appreciate you taking pics and making the offer!

No problem man. That neck you got on ebay was a steal for 67 bucks. I don't even have use for all the guitar parts I do have around and I don't think I would turn that deal down.

i know man, i can hardly believe i got it for that cheap...when i found the auction it was at $63 with an hour left - i placed a max bid of $70, figuring it would get outbid, but it only went up $67 and i won it. i figured i wouldn't even be able to pay an experienced woodworker to fix the cracked one for that much, so i'm pretty pumped about how that turned out.

looks like it's going out in the mail today...i'm crossing my fingers that it's going to arrive intact and in good condition - if so, this thing will be ready to be strung up as soon that neck's on there!

so i got the new neck today, and i'm stoked as shit because it's in pretty good conditon. a couple knicks/scratches here and there, but it's to be expected i guess with a piece of wood that was made in 1992...

anyways, i got this thing strung up and started playing it, and it totally slays. i'm pretty surprised by the V2 pickup in there...low overall output, but a very good high gain tone regardless. the single coils sound like dick, but i'll never use them anyways...

next up is a paint job, and possibly a swap a single active p-up...my jackson actually has a blackout in the bridge and 85 in the neck right now, so i'm contemplating fitting it with the venerable 81/85 combo, and then putting a single blackout in the RG. either way, this whole thing is turning out awesome...i totally owe the guy who gave me this a night out or a bag of weed or fucking SOMETHING!
