Greatest band EVER of the week:

Both incarnations of the band are mediocre sped-up melodeath with tickticktick drumming and bastardized tremolo riffage in place of the thrash metal they aspire to. Stupid, repetitive, most overrated band ever, and those who think they're thrash should be strapped down and forced to listen to Hypnosia, Sauron and Toxic Holocaust until their brains come out their anuses.
you miss the point, i don't care whether they are "TRUE FUCKIN THRASH METAL" or not, mr. "oooh look at me im an old skool melodeath despising thrash metal junkie im so cool", because the album has the power of a sledgehammer to the face. And theres hardly any tremolo riffage on the album just to let you know.

not thrash metal? fine. its better than thrash metal. and it sure as hell ain't a slayer rip off. or melodeath for that matter.

uh oh... you didn't just call thrash metal slayer rip offs
*hides from impending Jew Doom*

my band of the week is Disillusion
their Debut album Back To Times Of Splendor is practically flawless
anyone who likes opeth would enjoy these guys

My CD player has also been owned by Mabool this week. And WTF is wrong with me that I didn't notice the second CD until yesterday evening? And holy fuck it's good!

I've had this album for almost three weeks now and I haven't listenned to the accoustic cd yet... I'm still trying to get bored of the main cd ... I don't think it's even doable!!

I can't believe I have come across an album so good that it would make me reconsider Exodus place as ALBUM OF THE YEAR in my 2004 retrospect ... I also can't believe that I doubt Annihilator will be able to beat that...

This album is PERFECT and that's that... There is NOTHING wrong with this cd... NOTHING! It redefined the standards of good production in my book...

My Greatest band ever of the weak is Orphaned Land... Get Mabool or die!

Hehe, Karen turn you onto those guys?

That's our Karen.

I've heard a lot of people talk about them So I downloaded 3 tracks. These guys are very talented. I just need a little more time to get into them. :)

Sunlapse–I wouldn't hate the Haunted if A) people didn't call them thrash B) they didn't attempt to be thrash C) what they were didn't suck. It's melodeath, but played too fast for any melody. And calling Dolving a great vocalist is just a joke–mediocre hardcore shouting. If you want hardcore vocals, the singers from Shadows Fall and The Red Chord both have better voices.

I didn't quite mean to go off on you, but I have begun to loathe The Haunted and that makes me angry. People fellate them to no end despite their lack of any real originality, and act as if they're the saviors of thrash metal. Thrash needs no saving from the likes of these wankers.

Seriously, listen to Torture Squad (in my signature), you'll thank me later. ;)

I agree with Pyrus that the vocals are the low point of The Haunted's music. Really nothing special to my ears, and occasionally abrasive. I do enjoy the one album I own (One Kill Wonder), but it's not something I care to listen to very often. They do sound an awful lot like Slayer to me, but to be fair I never really got into Slayer (and I only own Seasons in the Abyss) so I am hardly an authority.

I never really heard the melodeath influences until Pyrus mentioned them, but when I listened to it again, yup, there were the in flames-esque passages in some of the songs. Guess I don't listen to enough melodeath to spot the telltale signs right away. However, saying they aren't thrash at all seems way off base to me. I also noticed that some of the passages reminded me strongly of some of the more "death sounding" parts of Testament's The Gathering (which is, of course, the far superior album).

first The Haunted album is 100000% thrash
thats a fact
and back then they were considered more to be "the hope of thrash metal" , and if they continued to make albums like this, they would be kings
but now they really became an ONE KILL WONDER band, by releasing boring crap after their debut.
