god bless us morpheus you're an awful cynic

Yeah but I heard thin lizzy did an album called black rose as a tribute to Opeth, so Opeth fans should be aware of them. God bless Opeth, and all who sail on her.

Forgot about Thin Lizzy...good band.

I had Simple Minds' Real Life album...when I was like 10 years old. Forgive me that I forgot about them too.

I've always been partial to Simply Red over Simple Minds...both are pop, but have good songs.

Rory Gallagher, Thin Lizzy??? How do you expect people to be be aware of them? They were only Iron Maidens biggest influences and Metallica only covered Thin Lizzys version of that whiskey song like.
Not exactly Opeth eh?

Probably most 18-year old people will not get Thin Lizzy's box set when there's much new stuff out there to keep up with and listen to. I like young(er) bands more, and I can't help it. It doesn't mean they're all shit.

What's nice about influences is that the great bands are not like their influences :D Anyway, who cares about influences?

And I don't really see the point in this Opeth thing any more. It's like you're saying "you're an Opeth fan, you're a brainwashed baby".

Influencial bands and artists deserve respect and I care about that. Without Paradise Lost- Gothic there would be no Anathema as it was and how they/we evolved and all bands that spawned from us. Loads of stoner rock and that spawned cos of Cathedral and that but goes back to Sabbath. Cradle of Filth play Maiden influenced guitar harmonies which Thin Lizzy influenced Maiden with. Respect to old bastards, ages ago! Not just brainwashed baby metal! hohoho!

Are PL that old? Goddamit! :erk:

That's fair enough, I don't mean I disrespect all of these old bastards. But I'm not into their music. Does that make me a brainwashed baby?

Still, I think you're unfair to young ones; it's logical they're not gonna be influenced by the great old names, cause they don't listen to the same things as you did when you were 18.

(It's rather funny having this debate with someone who's younger than me :loco: )

I said 'respect' these bands, I didnt say anyone has to listen to them.
