oh, and i dont add that 'extra chunk of butter' on top when the grits are ready... yuk.
stir in the milk and butter slowly and keep stirring- or else it'll have chunks.
2 cups of water,
a little bit more than a cup of milk
depends if you want it sweet of salty: 1tsp of either sugar or salt
2 tbs butter
boil water and milk
stir in salt or sugar
slowly stir in grits
stir constantly until grits are well mixed
bring everything to a boil
cover pot and cook on low heat for about 25-30 minutes
The texture needs to be JUST RIGHT - creamy and flowing.
add more water if needed... and when its done:
stir in the butter and serve
