guess what I got....

Ayreon projects are always wicked...enjoy it 4 or 5 days before everyone else. The new Genius comes out on the same day...with Russell Allen and Daniel Gildenlow (and lots more) doing some singerising. The last one really sucked though (despite the good singers)...so i'm not holding my breath for anything good.

even if we did, i don't really have the time. Right now i have 15 cds to review and 2 interviews to transcribe and 3 interviews to do next week alone, possibly 4. so i've got my hands full. remember, i'm 19 and this is all in addition to school and my part time shitty job at the Y.... hehehe. it's fun.

it's good, and i'm not a huge ayreon fan, other than star one and flight of the migrator.
Those are the only two albums I have (and like) as well...and for some STUPID reason, I only picked up Star One about 2 weeks ago. I can't stop listening to it. The vocals are unbelieveable. I'm looking forward to the new one too...heard good things about it.

The Human Equation is by FAR Lucassen's best work, it's been kicking my ass non-stop since I got it. The single entered the charts here in holland (Day 11: Love), on position 34. Unfortunately for Arjen, the rules for the charts here have changed. Usually the charts were based only on sale figures, but since a few months also the Airplay a single receives on the popular radiostations are a factor. As you might guess, the new Ayreon single got little to no airplay at all. Based on sale figures it would almost enter the top 10 I believe... Poor Arjen..

and that Genius project Russell is on.. how come it's not even mentioned on the official symphony x site?? I didn't hear anything about it on the forum here either, until Taliwakker mentioned it?

Probably because its crap....did you here the first one?
I couldn't believe how many great singers were on it and it was so bad. It had Mark Boals,Gildenlow,Midnight(Crimson Glory),Lana Lane and lots more.....along with Gary Hughes' 'Once and Future King' cds its the worst attempt ever at a rock opera i've ever heard.

It's an excellent album, definitely the most diverse and arguably the most ambitious project from Arjen so far, and the choices of vocalists and the arrangements are highly inspired. Each song sounds different, yet the album works as a whole and the story is compelling...not to mention we get some awesome keyboard work from Arjen and others.

Demonspell, you forgot to mention the emotion. Goddamn thing brings a tear to my eye every time i read the lyrics, especially when you get to the second disc. It really has to grow on you, but when it does... damn, i don't like proggy ayreon stuff (and this has more metal than most of his stuff), but i seriously think this is my favorite album right now.

I don't like his folky softer stuff, but with this album he did it the right way, the dynamics are amazing. and flutes played over heavy riffs are awesome. I also love the grunts Mikael did on the album, I had never expected Arjen wanted him to do that, very cool!!
