for me......umm, smoking my pipe maybe......i don't know. . .

I don't think System Of A Down Or Slayer suck. I like them both. Yes, I know there are bands that are far more technical and talented than either Slayer or S.O.A.D., but I wouldn't say either completely suck. I love the emotion and agression of Slayer and System Of A Down because they're different, weird, and odd. As far as real guilty pleasures I believe it would have to be some of the 80's "hair metal". Don't flame me to bad but here goes:

BABYLON A.D., SHARK ISLAND, LEATHERWOLF, LILLIAN AXE,

(There's probably more, but I can't think right know. Also, could some of these go in the obscure band thread?)

Says you, but the drummer is actually pretty decent and the clean vox are cool. As much as I hate to admit it, they are actually pretty catchy tunes. I haven't heard their new stuff, but there's about 4 good songs on Spit. The lyrics are inane, but most death metal lyrics are, so I can't fault them that. And it's true, they aren't hot. Since when do metalheads listen to music based on the appearance of the musicians? If I did that, I'd be listening to Christina Aguilera.

Hmmm I like these bands so sue me:

Days of The New - The first CD is sooo dark and the rest are cool too:p

Mad Season - Layne Rules! I love how mellow this disc is!:D

Soil - The vocals are pretty cool:o

Primus - Frizzle Fry is such a good CD:spin:

Nine Inch Nails - I just like them:rolleyes:

Also I like bagpipe music. Not that goofy upbeat stuff but the really sorrowful stuff. Do you know what I mean? I also saw Dave Brewbeck(jazz guy) awhile back and it was pretty sweet. The guy who played the sax did the flute thing in one song... in the style of Japanese music. Sounded really cool. I guess I like some folkish stuff.

Oh, and lots and lots of porn!:Saint:

being a form of metal, I'll have to admit to being a big system of a down fan as its funny and enjoyable to listen to aswell as having some very heartfull choruses that you can really sing to.

Nothing like them to lift your spirits, and im going to see them on monday. You can flame me for that but, its a gig at the end of the day and there havent been many of the 'true metal' bands touring here lately in england so im up for anything half decent.

Primus Albums I have:
Frizzle Fry - Awsome IMO tied for second best with Brown

Seas of Cheese - Hmm Really good but not as good as some others

Pork Soda - IMO thier best, I know the majority think it's their best I must agree with them on this one!

Brown Album - I lost the CD but then got it on vinyl. There are some great songs on here like Kalamazoo and Restin Bones

Anti-Pop - This was stolen from my car in Rhoad Island several years ago  from what I remember it was pretty good.

It depends.... on what you call 'guilty'

if you mean 'non-metal'... then it is Days of the new, The tea party, The doors...

But i am not ashamed.... except for the fact that i own every single bon-jovi cd made, except the crappy nu one.

You like days of the new too Trapped? I got to talk with Travis at a show in Providence RH on thier last tour. He was really cool. They have sence broken up because of thier record company. The whole band is going to try to do it without a record company or, with a really small one. The are changing thier name to "The Purple project and the 3 jars of life" or something like that.

You like days of the new too Trapped?

yup. i've followed them since they began, even before they were popular. The first on is awesome.. The guitarwork is awesome, and kills any of the acoustic work that opeth has ever done.

I'm a bit surprised that they aren't a bit more respected by them metal community, i guess that the fact that they are played on the radio makes them 'crap' to metalheads.

Dotn III is great, much better than Dotn II...

Hmmm... Travis is a dude, someone with a purpose. I would love to meet him...

 They should soooo stick with DOTN, rather than that weirdass name.

Have you heard 'tantric' ?? Thats the band that the members off the first record started... i don't like them, but they are ok, you might like them.

I agree that III is much better then II and have heard Tantric and I don't like them. The guitar stuff on the first CD SOUNDS complicated but when I looked at the tabs for them I found he does alot of the same stuff.

When I met Travis I was wearing my Pantera tour shirt and we started talking about Pantera (he is a big fan) He told me thier next CD would be chrome color and would be a metal CD:p I'm not kidding!

yeh they play that tantric song every day on the morning show i listen to. i think it sucks hardcore. waaaaay simplistic and the lyrics are dumb and they guy sings like all the new 'rock' singers like creed an shit. and i was into system of a down before they got popular too heh. ive had the first album since soon after it came out. for some reason i like them, i cant really explain it with logic or anything. oh well. the first cd is a lot better than the new one too.

Got a few of those. I like old Goth, like Sisters of Mercy and Joy Division. I also like Robert Miles and BT, really cool creative electronica. And angry chick rock like Ani Difranco and Paula Cool and Tori Amos. Last but not least, any kind of rockabilly, from old Chuck Berry to Stray Cats to the newer psychobilly like Rev Horton Heat and Nekromantix.

Yeah, I'm weird, I admit it.
