Guitar Players?

i play incredible badly, i didnt start till i was 20, a rugby teamate of mine hawked his japanese fender so i went and bought it for $100. i boughty a small little peavey amp and some peddles. i went to montana state and a guy that lived next to us played in a metal cover band so i introduced myself and learned some shit and watched his band rehearse in a rented garage space. one night the guitar player handed me his guitar at rehearsal and said play somethin. so i played skeletons of society by slayer. im sure i had the biggest shit eatin grin on my face in my entire life, man thats fun what a rush. i got a family now and my house is so small i got nowhere to put my guitar, but when i move im gonna get my own room for my guitar shit and start again. im not that great but its fun makin up your own shit. right on fellow guitar players!

Don't get me wrong here, cause I think Iced Earth are cool (listening to the boxed set right now), but aren't they pretty much an unknown band. Why the heck would you want to be in a tribute band (one with difficult material to master, no less) of a band that sells maybe 100,000 copies of each album? I can't believe anyone is going to go specifically out to see an Iced Earth tribute band. You might as well join a Black Sabbath tribute band that only plays Dio stuff.

I agree with you... they are fairly unknown, but wherever I go, I see more and more of their T-shirts and more and more people are starting to talk about them so that must be good eh?

Anyhoo, we basically play for our own fun and IE is technically challenging so that is fun for us...

As for my gear, I have an Ibanez RG series 220 model.. one of them more crappier ones :), BOSS ME-30 multieffects pedal and a Fender Roc-Pro 700. I've played geetar more or less seriously for almost seven yrs now and I've been a metalhead for maybe 2 yrs now - before that I was listening and playing (with limited success) Hendrix, Cream, Pink Floyd and U2 ;)

Practice does make perfect, but I don't want to end up a Malmsteen clone and do scales and arpeggios for the whole length of the song - I prefer the emotion in playing kinda like Steve Vai or maybe Jeff Beck...

What about you people? What axeman do you listen to??
