Alright, I am in the process of recording a few songs for the band I am in and cannot seem to get a decent guitar tone. I am recording with pod farm through a Toneport GX. I realize this is a basic setup but I am a college student so I am broke! Anyways I spent hours tweaking the tone, but I simply cannot get it to where I want. So my question is am I wasting my time with this setup? Should I just go with a DI box? Will it improve the guitar significantly? Also will I have to buy a mic pre as well? I know these are noob questions but you have to learn somewhere!

Here's the link to the very rough mix lol

Toneport D.I. are ok for first steps with recording, but the Pod Farm really sucks compared to FREE Vstiamps like the TSE X30 or the LeGion from Lepou imo. You should try this ampsims and search on this forum, those guys here helped me A LOT with their postings.
