H1N1......A global LIE (as usual)

... care to back that claim up? Sounds like quackery with a persecution complex... also, 'vaccine industry' and 'cancer industry' aren't really near the top of the 'huge evil corporations bent on killing us just because they can' list.

Have you actually talked to a doctor about the safety issues with vaccines? I assume the answer is no, based on your paranoia about mercury *that was intentionally put in there because it was a good idea*, but you might want to consider that. There are doctors who know what they're talking about and don't just dive into the newest flavor-of-the-week paranoia over things they don't understand.

' Similarly, the suggestion that [drug] companies make vaccines hoping to pocket huge profits is ludicrous to Offit. Vaccines, after all, are given once or twice or three times in a lifetime. Diabetes drugs, neurological drugs, Lipitor, Viagra, even Rogaine — stuff that a large number of people use every day — that’s where the money is.

That’s not to say vaccines aren’t profitable: [rotavirus vaccine] RotaTeq costs a little under $4 a dose to make, according to Offit. Merck has sold a total of more than 24 million doses in the US, most for $69.59 a pop — a 17-fold markup. Not bad, but [drug] companies do sell a lot of vaccines at cost to the developing world and in some cases give them away. Merck committed $75 million in 2006 to vaccinate all children born in Nicaragua for three years. In 2008, Merck’s revenue from RotaTeq was $665 million. Meanwhile, a blockbuster drug like Pfizer’s Lipitor is a $12 billion-a-year business. '

Jeff, Im not saying Im an authority on vaccines or anything but my wife and myself did a lot of fact finding and research when our first daughter was old enough for her first vaccination. We decided not to get her vaccinated. Also with our second daughter, she wasnt vaccinated either. Im just giving my opinion on what Ive learned personally. There was no internet when our first daughter was born so all we could do was talk to doctors or read books on the subject. The doctors couldnt really answer our questions cos they didnt seem to know what was in a vaccine either! So yes, I have talked to doctors and I havnt got a lot of confidence in them. Just my opinion.

Maybe he is a con artist or maybe not but when ever anybody criticizing something as massive as the vaccine industry they are immediatly discredited and ridiculed on the internet. Same as the cancer industry. There IS a cure for cancer but they dont want you to know because they make massive profits, second only to the oil industry if I remember rightly.
Dr. Andrew Moulden aside, I definately will never have a vaccination because of the shit like Mercury and squalene that they contain.

There are allot of sources out there that criticize vaccines, and you shouldn't take any of them seriously before doing background research on the authors etc.
This guy is a con artist, he makes things up about the human physiology to fool people who dont know better in to buying his miracle powder.. his studies are angled, and is not based on fact.

I do agree with you about that allot of the vaccinations are unnecessary, but i would not base my opinion on what a con artist is saying on the same website that he sells his miracle cures that will balance out the magnetic charge of your body.... (New-age bullshit.)

Also, what is this cure for cancer? Seriously? Never read anything about it.. i sure would like to see anything about it as i have had two relatives and one friend die of cancer.
Ive done my fair share of googling, but have only found such claims on websites that tell you to wear tinfoil hats so that the aliens/government cant read your mind.

Yeah, I would be pleasantly surprised if the average GP or pediatrician knew the specific content of any drug they prescribed, especially pre-internet. People should always do their own digging before they pop any new pill, even if just to determine what possible side effects are worth worrying about vs what's 'normal' for their body.

I once got a scrip whose "consult your doctor immediately if..." side effects were the roughly the same as symptoms of a separate ailment I was already being treated for. You better believe I tried to make certain there was a way to tell the difference between Signs New Drug XYZ Is Killing Me compared to Drug XYZ Is Fine; Unrelated Disease ABC Is Simply Flaring Up Coincidentally. Turns out it hadn't even occurred to the doc that I might get false or masked danger signs with that particular new drug / old problem combo, so we went a different way.

If your doctor doesn't know what he's prescribing, Krokit, try a different one. I wouldn't expect every doctor to know everything, but there are plenty who do enough work with vaccines to be able to help - that's what specialists are for, and they'll be much more useful than rambling snake oil salesmen.

There are people who criticize vaccines and some medicines... and they're fine *as long as they do it scientifically*. When they don't, like this asshat, or Kevin Trudeau (a convicted felon with no medical background - apart from fraudulently posing as a doctor, of course - who still thought it was a good idea to write and sell books like "Natural Cures *THEY* Don't Want You To Know About"), or people pushing some agenda other than public health (news flash: vaccination is just as much about *everyone else* as it is about you...), they should be thrown into fiery pits of torture and mayhem.

I think H1N1 is real, but it isn't the first time the governments try to fear the whole population to sell medicines and vaccines. Some example: BSE, H5N1 (the towns bought milions of vaccines useless), ADHD for childrens, etc... Every time they predict some disaster but nothing happens.
It should only be less propagandistic and less frightening.

I refer this thread once again to the definition of the word "prevention". Would you have me take the fact that I don't have AIDS or any unwanted offspring to date as proof that wearing a condom is no longer necessary? Vaccination is about trying to prevent diseases from running rampant, like clear cutting a forest to minimize the spread of a forest fire if one breaks out. Lack of a forest fire to date is in no way a sign that preventative actions were unwarranted or should be discontinued.

So what you are saying is that the government earns money through buying excess amounts of a vaccine that they wont be using?
Like here in Sweden where we have enough vaccine to vaccinate our entire population, twice.. yet only ~30% of the population will take the vaccine?

Yup, sounds profitable to me, sure does.

wasn't that 'end of the world' particle accelerator supposed to prove the existence of that? Wonder when they will have that thing running again....

No time soon. Apparently, God hates Higgs particles.

Oh for fuck's sake...

http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2009-11/bread-loving-bird-shuts-down-lhc

' The bird dropped some bread on a section of outdoor machinery, eventually leading to significant over heating in parts of the accelerator. The LHC was not operational at the time of the incident, but the spike produced so much heat that had the beam been on, automatic failsafes would have shut down the machine.

This incident won't delay the reactivation of the facility later this month, but exposes yet another vulnerability of the what might be the most complex machine ever built. With freak accident after freak accident piling up over at CERN, the idea of time traveling particles returning from the future to prevent their own discovery is beginning to seem less and less far fetched. The media lives off of fear and so does the anti-vaccine groups.
Science is our only way out of this. Fear is the mind-killer.
I am a parent of a 5 month old so I had to read up on this as well.

"Claim: Mercola says “Injecting organisms into your body to provoke immunity is contrary to nature.
Fact: Nature kills people. Doing something contrary to nature is what medicine is all about. It’s a good thing."

H1N1 was infinitely worse than any flu I've ever had. Completely knocked me out for 2 1/2 weeks. Never, ever in my life have I ever been a puker when I've been sick. With H1N1 there was impressive amounts of vomiting, fevers that wouldn't break, chest pains, the worst headaches of my life, throwing up out of the back end, dizziness, and my throat felt like it was the size of a watermelon. I had to take double doses of tylenol every four hours just to be able to stand up without my head feeling like it was going to explode.

All that said, I didn't get vaccinated. For an adult it's nothing that rest and proper nutrition can't cure. If I had it to do over again though, I might decide differently.

Holy shit dude, glad you made it through! This was recently I take it?

Breaking news: complex things break more frequently than simple things. Details at clue-o'-clock.

Jeff

Wait so you're saying I probably wouldn't be able to throw together the largest scientific and engineering project undertaken since the space race and have it work right the first time? Even when we're dealing with a subject as simple as theoretical physics? Sounds to me more like scientists not being able to prove God doesn't exist - ergo he does..

On topic though, I think the government has less to do with the H1N1 panic than the media. I saw in the USA today that first confirmed case of swine flu in a cat was recently discovered! Oh the humanity!

The LHC should be operational by the middle of the month. We'll see what happens.

"The LHC was shut down on November 5, 2009 due to a piece of bread dropped into the above-ground machinery by an overflying bird."
