Cab

and cab, matters more than people think.

You can have the greatest technique ever, a guitar worth 20000USD stuffed with a JE1000, a preamp(lets take the LEEJACKSONU GEEE PEEEEEE ONETHOUSAND for you fanboy dinks, myself included.), a poweramp with more watts than your collective amount of braincells, and this all, will sound like a commodore 64 with a spoon in it, if you run it into feks, a Harley Benton whatevermajig, built from grade F plywood and speakers which they probably got cheap from a pre-ww2 storage of speakers.

A good cab is MANDATORY, a great rig is WORTHLESS through a shitty cab. Yet as the trend with people who have guitars to 2000€, and amps for 100€, theres also a growing trend of people buying high end amps, and sticking them infront of the most low end cab they are able to surface on this planet, going only after the rated Watt level, meaning shit like, the 400W Behringer


BEHRINGER. 5150+Behringer does not equal win! I'm not saying ive seen it here though, ive seen it on other forums i lurk around on.


Bottom line:

Poweramp don't matter
Fingers, Guitar, Preamp, and cab do

There is no magical way of getting a great tone, you have to think, and be ready to fork out some cash. And this is without considering the way you handle your guitar.


Edit: Also, your cables matter in terms of tone, because if they are of rather questionable quality, you will lose tone, and gain hiss.

I think it's awesome! I especially love the songs Ugly and Pussyfoot Miss Suicide, haven't really listened to Not My Funeral that much yet. It's definitely an kickass album.

I was wondering if it might have been real but Joonas was a dead give away. No way Joonas could listen to a bodom song without writing an essay about the melodies and how many trees and lakes he can imagine while listening to the song.

What did you guys think of Not My Funeral? IT'S FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!! I loved the intro in that song, reminded me of Touch Like Angel of Death a lot. I must say Alexi's vocals has improved alot since Blooddrunk as well. I give this album a 8.5/10, or even a 9/10 actually.

What stands out most has to be the drums in Ugly. I never thought they where exceptional good, but this is really awesome.
And I agree with painjoiker, Bodom of the Barrel has to be the best song on the album. Finally there is the good old Alexi/Janne interaction I missed so much on the last few albums again.

About Bodom of the Barrel, I fucking AGREE on the Alexi/Janne interaction, I love the guitarsolo at 2:43, and then it goes straight into a kickass Keyboard at 3:02 solo from Janne, and then back to the amazing chorus again.
I thought about a funny thing as well, this is the first album Henkka has a bass solo in the song Pussyfoot Miss Suicide at 1:49 into the song (except the Warheart intro if you can really call that a Solo). What do you guys think about Was It Worth It? Kinda uptempo song, listening to it for the second time now.

Not My funeral to me sounds like it could be from HCDR (because of the name and what we've heard from it eg. Pure melodic thrash metal) Cry Of The Nihilist i'd say is a very atmospheric song kinda like Northern Comfort. Could be fairly long too. Roundtrip To Hell And Back, might be something similar to Hellhounds... But Northpole Throwdown is kinda hard to guess. At first I was like it will be similar to stuff from FTR, but now I think it will be a really fast song with some slower parts in between kinda like Roadkill Morning.
