S&R was always my favorite Vai album, and I didn't know who the vocalist was, but he made that album my favorite (hell, anytime Vai didn't sing was my favorite Vai album moments ha ha ha). Even after I started listening to SYL I didn't know it was the same guy :p After I found out he had his solo albums and started researching it and listened to Ocean Machine is when it clicked it was the same dude.


I've heard that the tour for that album was great! and people I've talked to who saw the show that passed through here said Devy kept up soloing with Vai really well, even back then as a youngun'
 
What a fool I was...
Back in the day when this album came out, I was totally into the "prog" thing and was hoping for a Tate style singer.

Then this Devin guy starts screaming and I hated it. " man, the music is great but this singer blows "

Several years later I hear SYL and DTB and wonder,
" Why didn't I like this guy? "

I guess Devy was just ahead of his time for me. Now I think he rules. :headbang:
