Thats awesome....but how does it get those different pitches in the dimple things? Sounds sorta like a mix between a synth and guitar harmonics.

If the melodies weren't so painfully generic I'd be really into this.

I see all these obscure instruments all the time on youtube just surfing around looking at stupid shit, just this generally out there shit, but you never really hear anyone making anything particularly interesting. It's all that same kind of slightly happy sounding instrumental solo piece that you might find on a Line 6 Pod XT demonstration video. Cheesy backing music and no real substance.

Who doesn't someone REALLY fuck with what this instrument is capable of doing? Make one with a pickup or mic one up and run it through some effects and drag some really fucking weird sounds of it, because playing the "look at my wacky/zany/buzzwordy instrument!" songwriting makes me want to cry.

other than that, this instrument looks cool as fuck and i want to play on one D:

Dude, I didn't find this a painfully generic melody in the least, I thought it was really interesting and a bit oriental sounding, and more importantly, it was a perfect means for him to showcase all his amazing expressive talents with creating those harmonics/overtones, as well as the dynamic control, and those stacatto slapped harmonies, goddamn - I really dug it!

thats exactly the point id have made if i wasnt stoned
ty chris
it's all very impressive but i dont really feel anything.

It was so interesting that now we`re all GAS-ing for ... um .. that thing

Man, I really need a new set of hubcaps now...

Nice vid, I did find out about Hang drums last year, mainly because of this youtube clip:

I like this instrument quite alot, it just seems to make me calm and mellow inside whenever I hear it.

Also found a guy playing one in the streets of Hamburg last summer, he even let me play it. Just wish they weren't so damn expensive. There are alternatives like the Caisa, but the original from PANart seems to be the best.

Ya, saw these a couple of months back, but my heart sank when I read that each one is handmade by two guys in one factory which is why they cost so much IIRC. would be awesome to get one though.

Sonic Couture Hang Drum VSTi, shit is bangin'.

I used it in a couple of my indie-electro songs written early last year...
