Hey everyone, this is my first thread on this forum! I've been looking around listening to other mixes and I think mine are good enough to put up on here. This is a short little clip I made for my school's morning show, and I really ended up liking it and I might develop this riff into a song. Guitar was POD Farm, a combination of 2 amp models from the Metal pack, dont remember which, one with a tube screamer in front. drums are slate samples because i really like those lol. bass is a freeware bass synth because i have no other way to record bass, its really just there to add some fullness to the mix. So please comment and criticize!

The guitars are overedited or something. When you hit the first note, the guitars become mono for a second, and that sounds super strange. It's definitely missing a bass, at Rondo Music they sell an amazing Jazz Bass remake for 100$.

The guitar was recorded once, then I made 2 copies of the same take. One copy is panned hard left, the other is panned hard right, but with a 15 millisecond delay on the right so it mimics double tracking with less work. Is this a bad idea?

without even listening to the track i gotta say play it twice, not copy and paste. It makes a massive difference, and really doesn't take all that longer.

so why does it make a big difference? im curious about this because I noticed it does make a difference but couldn't quite see why or if it was making a huge difference

The minor differences in the playing make it have the stereo spread. Some people even quad track, two on each side.
