Any out-of-towners have trouble finding gas before heading home after the fest? The End told me they had a hell of a time finding any, and I visited a DOZEN stations yesterday before finding some. My friend drove here from out of state and we started getting worried about finding any for him.

Here in the Midwest, we have more than enough gas, considering all the beer-brats people consume at football games.

.... oh wait, you meant...

There still isn't a gallon of gas to be had within 10 miles of my place in Auburn, GA.

On the way home from PP, I didn't see any gas in the city at all, nor at I-85 and North Druid Hills Rd. After getting rear-ended*, I stopped at the Indian Trail exit on I-85 and found gas (and 3-car deep lines) at the Shell station for $4.19/gal. And I paid it without a qualm, since there's nothing to be had near here.

* no appreciable damage, though...whew! Thank Ford and their 10? 15? mph bumpers :)

BTW, a gasoline tanker pulled up to that Shell station while I was fuelling, so I'm thinking they're set for a day or two.

On www.atlantagasprices.com, people are posting when they see a tanker pull up to a gas station....kinda like spies or something. :)

I just wish I could access the site through my cellphone's limited Web capabiity.

My crew and I were in a car with a big tank. We gassed up before we got near Atlanta, and then refuled once we got to Tennessee on our way out. We didn't have to gas up in Atlanta at all, which was nice. We saw many gas-less gas stations on our way out, though.

SkiBumMSP and I saw the Chevron station on 10th and Spring Streets, a few blocks south of Center Stage. When we were first there (Thursday), the station had gas at $4.19/gallon. Then we came back later and saw a line of people waiting to get gas - and a camera crew taping probably one of few gasoline stations in Midtown to actually have gas. Later on (Saturday and Sunday) the station had no gas at all.

I had read about the gas problem before we came to Atlanta - and we were lucky we took the MARTA rail (subway) and the "Shoe Leather Express" the entire time we were there. Cheaper that way anyhow!

Gassed up with no problem about 100 miles out on the way in....and 200 miles out on the way out.

Many empty stations though in the Raleigh area as of now...though they say the flow to Carolinas is increasing and should be better in the next week or two.

Cool that nothing happened to the car. Everyone was asking me about the gas situation in GA, told them it was Marta & walking for me. When I got home, gas by me was $3.66/gallon. I'd be feeling REALLY gouged if I lived down there....

Hey, make sure you double-check it. Had it happen in my old Escort, not even a scratch, and only a small crack on the side of the bumper cover by the quarter panel, but it turns out my actual bumper had started to bow. Happened again, and though the bumper cover only cracked on the one side a little more and cracked on the other side as well this time, the bumper itself was crumpled. Both accidents were fairly low-speed (maybe 10 mph the first time, of that, and probably about 20 mph the second time).

Glad you got gas though! I was able to get 5 gallons on Holcomb bridge/Jimmy Carter yesterday. See, I'm not being greedy. Plus, the boss is letting us work from home the rest of the week.

OMG! I went on a hunt for gas on Sunday to get us through the week since James and I were both running on fumes. There were no gas stations near us intown with gas at all..... I had to go all the way to Smryna and sat in line for about 30 minutes, filled up, and filled up a two-gallon tank to bring home to James since he had less than I did. My gas light came on as I was waiting in line, barely made it, brought home the tank to put in James' tank. His brother called us later in the day to tell us that a station not too far away from us finally had gas, so he flew over there and filled up. What a nightmare!

I got gas yesterday at the shell station on Indian Trail. They were limiting you to only $30 worth of gas and you had to go in and pay for it even with a credit/debit card. At $4.19 a gallon I got just a bit over 7 gallons. Funny they don't want people going to the stations and topping off but when you go to fill up you can't. I had just under 1/4 tank and was hoping to fill up to last me the next 2 weeks. Now I'll be looking for gas again next week and they say this shortage should last a few more weeks. Just sucks.

I think you just have to be lucky and be at the right place at the right time

We'll have no gas here (Cartersville) then 1 gas station will get gas and everyone will rush there and there will be like 50 cars there

Luckily I got to Quiktrip like an hour after they got a shipment and I only had to wait like 5 minutes

I got a full tank so I can make it to the Kataklysm/Eluveitie show Friday

Its ridiculous, I live in Sandy Springs and even today when the news was saying a lot of areas have more gas, we have almost nothing. I had to drive around until I almost ran out of gas to find a station with anything, and even then I had to wait almost an hour to get any. Its awful because I live down here, work in Canton and go to school in Kennesaw...and drive a Cherokee.

I wish we had a facepalm smiley, because i'd use it.
