Hey all

I tracked a song for a band from chicago a few days ago, and let me just say, this is without a doubt the fastest shit i've ever recorded in my life. The guys kick sounded like poo poo, and i tried my goddamnedest to EQ it, mic placement, the works. So... I ended up replacing it.. with everyone's favorite kick drum (slate 10z1) I've got the EQ cleaned up so it doesn't muddle with the Drop A bass guitar going on, and I've got them side chained (kick and bass guitar).

The problem I'm having is: I can't, for the life of me, get the kick drum to have the "girth" it does while he's doing doubles (64th notes @ 260 bpm, yea, quantized ftw) VS when he's doing singles. The kick is WAY louder and defined when he's going ape shit, but non existent when he's doing singles.

:puke:

Advice, suggestions, tips, etc would be greatly appreciated.

I asked the same question a while back, and got the same answer.
Automation totally saved the day.
