What are your weapons of choice when it comes to mixing / mastering, editing, processing bass, and monitoring for drummers in the headphone department?
Switching frequently between my Q701's and HE400's. The Hifiman's have the most amazing bass on any headphone I've experienced and are almost perfect for checking the low end on tracks, but they have a rather weird top end that makes them rather limited to that role. AMAZING listening cans though, just a shame they don't have the godlike transient detail on the AKG's.
I know it's kind of ridiculous that these are backed by Simon Cowell, but I tried these earlier today (my friend just got a pair) and I thought they sounded pretty great. They seemed VERY accurate to me. I've never used any of the Shure's or AKG's you guys are talking about though so I'm no expert. The transient response was great and they didn't seem scooped and hyped in the low end like Beats.
I use Panasonic RP-HTX7. I tried the ATH M50's and found them harsh and a little scooped, but very good bass response. I prefer my Panasonics, plus they're only $50.
sorry for thread hijacking but what would you recommend in case you are only limited to AKG? I have store credit where they only sell AKG headphones. Are the K601 the best cans they got for mixing?
