"Once there was a time when heavy metal music ruled throughout the land and creativity flourished as musicians were able to live out there wildest barbaric fantasies. But then a darkness fell upon the world of rock and roll, and the ceasless, monotonous droning of uninspired musicians created a musical nihilism, forcing heavy metal underground. But there will come a day when metal will rise again as the true ruler of modern music, and bring culture back to the western world. Until then, we must live life in the Dark Age."

Buy it, learn it, live it, breathe it, and most of all, support it.

I kinda left my schoolbag lying around in a mall food court, so I think I was asking for it. It's not like whoever took it WANTED slough feg and goat horn cds though! they coulda took the cd player (only item of value) and left the cds + my sociology notebook. now i'm without 2 awesome pieces of music, and notes for 3/4 of the year for one of my classes, in which the exam is coming up in a month and a bit! FUN!

After kicking around the -core plugs all day, I have one thing and one thing only to say about this particular Slough Feg release:

MOTHER.
FUCKING.
WIN.

highlow.mp3 - I absolutely love that bit from 2:01 to 2:13 - what a build-up! Didn't care for the dodgy spaceship keyboard effects near the end though... Other than that, excellent song-writing, but nothing I haven't really heard before. The vocalist isn't too over the top, that scores points.

gene.mp3 - I really love this drummer, he knows how to use his kit to make build-ups and rolls really add to the sturm und drang of the tracks... preferred the last track though, vocalist sounded better on it for some reason.

high2.mp3 - Didn't really like this one, nothing about it grabbed me.

Overall, sounds like a band I wouldn't object to listening to, and one I'd definitely see live, but nothing I'm going to run screaming to the shops to buy. I'll stick with my Judas Priest 'British Steel' vinyl... :D

Fair enough. Yes, I can only imagine that live they would be blistering. Alas they've only played tiny venues in San Fran or the outskirts of Europe. We've had numerous posts about this band here, and I think the main reason why so much of us love them in the gay way is that they wear their retro-nerdy-beer drinking-love affair for metal on their sleeves, BUT with a twist. As far as 'trad metal' goes, the riffs are warped and the lyrics are tongue-in-cheek RPG cheesy. Come on, they call themselves "The Lord Weird Slough Feg" for crissakes! :tickled:

It's like "Highlander and Dark Ale" metal (although the samples you've heard are from their one album where they left the Scottish highlands for space). :loco:

I'll come back and listen to the samples again later - just about to leave work, and for some reason despite the fact that it's snowing outside, it is absolutely roasting in the office... so perhaps I was distracted from the full trad metal glory of the band by the dry, prickly heat and my supervisor's steely gaze...

Yeah, it's gonna snow here shortly so I'll duck out early today.

I wish there was a way of you hearing "Addendum Gallactus" or "Sky Chariots". I'm at work - anyone out there who might be kind enough to send Dill a couple of MP3s? :)

you know was just thinking.
both the Feg and the Hammers really are bands that can make it to a bigger plateu ... only if John would focus his energy on one full time and market the damn thing properly ... like updated websites, proper tours, etc.
God knows they have the chops, killer personality and certainly great live presence ... now only if they did not have the attention span of a fly and just FOCUS!

Bring it on JK! :D

Yeah, you have to hear full songs with this band! And I don't know what makes Sky Chariots so special.. I'd take most of the other Deadmen tracks over it EASILY! Come on... Heavy Metal Monk! Warriors Dawn! Troll Pack (haha)! The variety on their albums is what really makes them awesome to me! I really dig the slower Psionic Illuminations and punky Marauder, also!
