Heavy Metal

you know was just thinking.
both the Feg and the Hammers really are bands that can make it to a bigger plateu ... only if John would focus his energy on one full time and market the damn thing properly ... like updated websites, proper tours, etc.
God knows they have the chops, killer personality and certainly great live presence ... now only if they did not have the attention span of a fly and just FOCUS!

Bring it on JK! :D

I agree, but it's not a perfect world. I think he works in a bar. I know he helped set up a venue as well at one point, bringing over obscure bands from Europe once in a while, but otherwise they have zero money. They might as well live in their tour bus. Remember their tour? They picked locations based on who they knew in the area that would put them up for the night.

I know in the independent film making business, people ask the public for donations and in return they're listed in the credits as a 'producer'. I'm not sure why bands don't do the same thing, but this is where my knowledge of the industry ends. :erk: I guess there are legal implications, royalty handouts, etc.?

EDIT: By the way, Cobbet did recently quit Slough Feg so he could concentrate on HoM and avoid tour schedules.

I think Scalzi puts his heart into Slough Feg as much as he can, when he's not struggling to make a living. It's not like everyone in CA is living the "good life", in massive mansions with fences, hedges and security guards :P

I *REALLY* wish they'd do a North American tour, come up to Toronto, play with Goat Horn and Rammer, and then I could die a happy man!

cool quote. Music's not bad at all but then dude just had to open his mouth :loco:

That's funny - Scalzi is the selling point at the end of the day. I don't think I'd like HoM or Slough Feg as much with any other vocalist. He's just so unique.

Scalzi has one of the most distinctive and best voices I've heard in years, but whenever someone steps outside the norm there is both love and hate. Personally I think you're insane if you don't love Scalzi, but to each their own. :loco:

Hmmm, well I'm not the best judge when it comes to those types of vocals, tbh. To me he sounded just like every other cheese-filled power/prog/trad singer I've heard.

Nah, those cheese vocals are soulless, Scalzi is speaking from the depths of his being. At least that's how I hear it.

He could be speaking out his ass and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference when it comes to that type of vocals.

Everybody get drunk and listen to "Brave Connor Mac." Now. RIGHT THE FUCK NOW.

THE BATTLE RAGE HAD GRIPPED HIM AS HE SQUIRMED INSIDE HIS SKIN!
ONE EYE HAD POPPED OUT OF HIS HEAD THE OTHER SUCKED BACK IN!
SOON PIECES OF BRAVE CONNOR MAC AND FRIENDS ADORNED THE GROUND
IT TOOK THREE TUBS OF ICE TO COOL HIS BURNING BODY DOWN!

Scalzi's voice is impossible to describe. He's like a mix between Eddie Vedder and that guy in Crash Test Dummies, and I'm still not really all that close.

But yeah, he doesn't sound anything like a euro-power metal or traditional vocalist, other than the fact that he sings clean. This guy has the Californian drawl thing going on too. Meaty low pitched delivery with that rubber twang vibrato.

Wth? To me he soudned quite different. I didn't like it much at first, but it grew on me faster than...something really fast.

FUCK, this album's finally growing on me! I HATE YOU KEELEY!!!!!1111111one111WTH!!1

Other News: We're in the midst of recording our 3rd album ("The Locust Years") right now. It should be finished by mid March. So far it's coming out great. More on this as it developes. As for when this will be released, who knows? We'll worry about that once we're done making it.

See you at the shows...

It's an easy commute downtown, it'd be stupid for me not to go! I wanna see Woods of Ypres again, too. Yea, I suppose I'll be there for sure.

I've talked to one of the guys involved in organizing and promoting the event (Adrian Bromley of Unrestrained Magazine) before, and if he remembers me I might have my foot in the door as far as bootlegging is concerned. Either that, or someone else will do it! Either way, I'll be sure to let you know!q
