I've listed to the song (from google) a trillion times now, and I must say that I love it! However, I dislike Fredrik's solo, which feels so ordinary and typical for what distinguishes the average metal band from the musical gods Opeth.

Fredrik's solo perfectly fits the song, it is played with emotions and it is dark and evil. I am sure, when we hear the studio version, we will feel it deeper.
Fredrik's solo is fine...the only part I don't particularly like is when he starts bending high notes over the E chord at the end of the solo.

It's a matter of taste of course. I'm sure Fredrik's solo is "skillful" and "fast" etc., but to me Opeths magnificence was never about these things.

It's definitely one of opeth's weakest solos in my eyes.. I'm not a shred fan personally.
To Rid The Disease's solo is probably my favourite of theirs. Just, perfect.

The most part of his solo IS NOT shredding. And by the way he can play much faster than he played in so called shred parts.

Absolutely fantastic solo. I don't understand what people have against musicians playing fast. It's boring if there's just slow solos.

Absolutely no Batio or Malmsteen and besides, why should a player completely chance his/hers style of playing when joining a band. Maybe some adjustment is necessary but it's nice to have something else for a change.
