I saw Hellboy last night, decent movie, lots of FX and TONS of creepy squid like Cthulu-esque monsters.

i saw a preview for it when i rented 'once upon a time in mexico' and it had 2 songs from the new dimmu album durring the preview. that was pretty cool.

Ron Pearlman is the best Hellboy ever! I did read the comic and I think they did a great job with the adaptation. Yeah, Derek, the comics are better, but there is no way to condense everything down into a 2 hour format. If you want to see what the movie is based on, get The Right Hand of Doom and Seeds of Destruction. I highly recommend this movie and I usually don't like most comic remakes. (They are making a Hellblazer movie and have cast Keanu Reeves as John Constantine. I'm outraged. Meh.)

whaaaaa, keanu reeves?! ugh, i dunno about that.. i've just started reading bits of hellblazer recently, but i don't see keanu reeves fitting that role ..
I've been meaning to look into hellboy for a while, ever since i first started hearing rumors of the movie in the works, but haven't gotten around to it yet, i'm thinking i'll wait until after i see the movie, so i can't possibly make any comparisons ;P .
But it does look good though, and ron pearlman rocks, and i see plenty of tentacles in the previews.... all good signs!

Yep, Hellboy is cthulhu-rific. I'm completely annoyed by the choice of Reeves for Constantine. He does well in films where his signature line is "whoa" but I don't think he has the depth for a character like Hellblazer. Ah well.Chromatose said:
