First of all hello. Been lurking for a while, but finally got off my ass to post. Secondly, a little background info. I've been listening to metal seriously since about '89. Been listening to Anthrax the entire time. Metallica used to be hands down my favorite band, but as the years have progressed Anthrax continues to climb higher and higher. Let's see by years end, I'll have seen Anthrax 3 times and Metallica 0, so that says something :) Of course the fact that 3 Anthrax shows cost about the same as 1 Metallica show says even more. So on to my question, I've seen a lot of people on this list and other fora thrash Korn, so I've got to ask why? Is it the music? Personally, I dig Korn and think they make some pretty decent music and their one of the few newer metal bands that I actually listen to. I've been listening to them since their first record came out. My guess is that a lot of people bag on them because of their fanbase, which I can totally understand. However if you guys have a beef with Korn musically, what is it? I guess some people call them rap-rock/metal, which I never really got, because aside from a few songs(their cover of an Ice Cube song, a collaboration with Ice Cube, and that one song with Fred Durst) they don't have a very rappy feel to me. So lay it on me people. Tell me why I'm such a tool for listening to Korn :D

While I don't mind a few of Korn's songs their music really does nothing for me at all and I find their signers voice to be extremely annoying. In fact it may be the most annoying voice i've ever heard.

So those are my reasons fo not liking Korn.

Rock On!

The music doesnt move me, the lyrics dont inspire me, I'm not a fan of the image the try to put out. I gave em a chance and saw them live. Talk about an un motivated performance, no energy what so ever. Hell they looked bored.

yeah, I had life is peachy and there was one or two good songs, a bunch of OK ones and some shitty ones. I just don't like the whole 7 string guitars tuned down a million steps with that bass slapping sound and the singer doesn't have much talent in my opinion.

i can honestly say the only song i like of korns is freak on a leash, however i do give them a little respect for doing somthing a little different, ratm rhcp and faith no more started that path and they give it a little twist here and there which is ok is my books.

the only sad thing here is they think they started the whole scene.

ps i really cant stand that singers voice

2 reasons ( I don't hate them, just dont listen anymore)

1. MegadetH took them out on their first major tour. Did they ever show MegadetH any love when they needed it? no. Fuck Korn

2. It's almost like Fieldy heard one tape of Primus and decided that that is how bass should be played all the time. Slapping is cool and all - but if you suck at slapping you still suck. Every song has the same slappy old bassline and it is really old.

Christ at least Limp had enough sense to change the formula somewhat on their last album.

BTW they mutilated "One" on MetallicA ICON....w/ the whole unnessecary slappy bass.

Greg they did buture one it sucked. And no love to Megadeth fuck that.

I heard they totally dissed their hometown Bakersfield, CA too like their better than other people there. Can't confirm it though. A couple of years back on the Metallica Summer Deal they seemed to get more crowd reaction then Metallica during their set, which made me think they were the new "kings of metal" but of the songs I saw I was bored. Just can't bring it I guess but I was willing to listen. They're okay but as old as I am I really enjoyed hearing Maiden in August open with Number.

"You don't have to be old to be wise."

Oh yeah, now I remember why I really hate them. I saw Megadeth on that tour and Korn sucked ass. They also went like 10 minutes too long and Megadeth had to cut their set short becasue of it.

Fuck Korn!!

Rock On!

I liked their first album because at the time it was something different. I bought Life is Peachy because I liked the first one, but aside from one or two decent songs, it wasn't very good. After that I waited until I heard something on the radio, and I didn't like anything I heard enough to buy it. And everything I've heard from them in (at least) the last five years sounded exactly the same. Boring.

I saw them live twice, once on that aforementioned Megadeth tour, and again on Metallica's Load tour. They looked bored and like they had better things to do. Now, I could see them not being thrilled to be playing outside, in Phoenix, in July (with Megadeth), but with Metallica they were indoors, at America West Arena, in January, with the A/C cranking, and they looked the same way. They're lucky the headliners made up for their lameness, and you wouldn't catch me at one of their headlining shows, even if I had comp tickets.

And their South Park episode would have been better if Anthrax was in it instead! :)

Back in 94-95 I would have professed to being their biggest fan, but after Life is Peachy this turned - I dunno why really. It might have been the old 'more popular they get the quicker I grew tired of them' syndrome.

I still have all their records - Untouchables is actually their best since their debut in my opinion, but their records for me are inconsistent.
