I have a budget of about 600.00 per Mic. Any worth mentioning in that price range, I was looking at the BULE dragon fly pairs, heard mixed reviews. I'm kind of looking for a large diaphram condenser mic ie- AKG 414's I have 1 already but to get a matched pair used is gonna be a feat.

Any new mics on the scene I should take a look at?

Any Thoughts?

Thank you, The Neumans are way out of my price range for a matched pair however. :(

I already have 4 of those Octava's MK012's I should have mentioned that, sorry. I'm not a big fan of the Oktava's...thats why I'm in the market for new Overhead mic's... Any other thoughts on the AKG c1000's guys? Are they better sounding than a Shure sm81? Anyone used the Blue Dragon flys before?

I recently bought a pair of Peluso cemc6. I went from oktavas to those and they are an improvement. Better transient response and better highs. You should try them.

You asked for Large diaphram but most models mentioned are SDC.

If you want the most bang for your buck the mic that I promise will deliver you a great tone for the cash is the CAD M179

Amazing on toms, OH, guitar both electric and acoustic. I have been told it is very much like the C414 and a fraction of the cost.

Well worth a try M8, I don't think you will be disapointed. :worship:

as far as SDC goes, stay away from C1000s, The Rode NT5 pair are awsome as is the AKG451 and Shure SM81.

Thanks guys for the input thus far! I've been hearing good things about the Shure KSM-32's anybody have any experience with those mics? I wish I could find and afford another AKG 414 TLII that had the same pattern as my current one. I may be ebay bound.

Yeah the ksm32's are great. I've had one since they came out. I've been trying to snag another one used. I just missed a pair on craigslist for $500. they sound good on vox and acoustic/electric gtr too. the sm81's are great mics as well.

keep an eye on Craigslist though. I've seen km184's go for 1,000 a pair. and singles as low as $400.

Once again thanks for the input guys, I've done some research and I contacted Oktavamods... I just need to find out if they can fix and mod and maybe match my 4 mics I have.

I have 4 of the MC 012-01's. If he can mod and match at least a pair I'll save tons of money and recycle some old mics in my collection. I guess I'd be "green" in doing so. haha!
