Hello, so we're going to record drums for our coming album, and we've rented a small studio to use to record them. As I don't have much experience recording real drums it would be much appreciated if you could help me out in what mics to use where for best results.

These are the mics we have available:

SENNHEISER MD-421
SHURE SM57
SHURE SM 58
SHURE BETA 57
SHURE BETA 58
SHURE SM7B
RÖDE NT1
RÖDE NT2-A
AKG D112
TSM MT-87
SP B1
LINE AUDIO C1

I don't really remember how many of each, so just suggest me and hopefully it will work out well. We're melodic death, I guess we mostly sound like some mix of In Flames/Kalmah/Bodom/Dethklok.

Any help much appreciated, thanks!

My thoughts (really kinda depends on how many of each mic, tho):

Kick: D112
Top Snare: Beta 57
Bottom Snare: 57
Toms: Sennheiser 421's
Hats: SM7b
Overheads: Rode NT1 or the TSM MT87 (not familiar, but I see that it's a u87 style mic)
Room: Rode NT2-a

^What he said, though I'd also stick a 57/421 inside the kick right up against the beater as you might struggle with getting enough click from the 112.
