Photos are attached of the room. So you can see what it is.
Next to a room where I record and mix, it's also my bedroom..so yeah putting my drums in the middle of my room and stuff is difficult.

Anywayzz...when I especially record drums, I really have problems that the cymbals sound "washy". I think it could be because the woodceiling is not that high. Anywayz pictures attached + a scheme of my room.

Well, the reason the cymbals sound washy might be because it seems like you dont have anything that absorbs the higher frequencies really good.
Try using a real backdrop behind the drumset, they are made to kill that "washy" sound, and if you buy one that is big enough, you can hang it on the cealing, down to the walls, making it even better.

Thanks for the reply. A backdrop sound pretty wide to me. What kind of fabric am I looking at then?

Oh, forgott that, bad memory. :p

I meant a backdrop made of Molton, its very good to use on drums sence it kills alot of the higher frequencies(but hardly any of the lower).
This also means that you might want to keep those carpets on the wall, just to kill some of the lower frequencies to.

Carpet won't even touch the low frequencies.

correct..it's the preamp I started out with :-).. still want to do that black lion mod someday.. apparently it helps a lot!
SM PRO AUDIO PR8(-E)..got it after the first version failed on me..

Thanks for the input...I will also now checkout that other forum..and also have a look at the molton backdrop..

I've always wondered how these preamps sound. How would you rate them compared to the RME preamps?

To be really honest they are a damn good bang for the buck!
My bands first EP has been recorded ONLY using that pre-amp.
Offcourse there are better ones out there. But if someone would start out with this stuff (just as I did when buying that device) you have a decent device that gives you pretty good sounds. I can do a shoot out tonight on guitar with that device, so you can hear for yourself.
