Can anyone give me some help in micing up an Ocarina Flute. I'm thinking of buying one, and I'm interested as to the best way of mic'ing one up.

I've never mic'ed one up myself, but a project I worked on a few weeks ago included a small set of musicians on classical instruments. Cello, violin, viola, double bass, flute, a saxaphone and a trumpet. Pretty neat. Everything had at least one condensor on it. Various other mics were used on the stringed instruments, but the condensors worked the best for the flute, sax, and trumpet. Flute is basically the same thing as the ocarina...so I would imagine it would work the same. About a foot in front of where the sound comes out, angled towards the source. Perfecto. :)

Hence the hint to the fact that I had more than one mic on everything. I had a TLM103 in the corner of the room for all of the takes for each instrument. A Rode NT-2A worked nicely on everything directly, and a KSM44 as well. I know I had a couple of others, including a dynamic mic on something, but I can't remember which one and I'm pretty sure it wasn't the SM57.
