Help with my bass gear purchases

What are the differences? the one I have is the white one, but never saw other kinds of ns-2 around tho

Spector NS-2's in the 80s went from being made by Spector to being made by Kramer and the quality dropped dramatically in virtually all departments. It's the old scenario where a specialist instrument made by a smallish company starts getting mass-produced. The QA goes down, so the profit margin can go up.

Thankfully, Spector then revived the company in the 90s again. The new ones are nice (the high-end models especially), but I lusted after a friends original NS-2 for years which had a certain throaty, grinding tone. In fact, I remember hearing someone at a gig refer to is as " that c*nt licking bass tone" :p

I think SweetNothing thought you were talking about the Boss NS-2.

Ahh.....i was scratching my head as to why he'd mentioned his was "white" and what relevance it had...hah! :)

In that case....I hate Boss pedals too !:p

i play a spector Q5pro which i think is an amazing bass for the price. neck thru, great build quality, real comfy to play and sounds great. it has the emg hz's with the active electronics which gives u plenty of bottom end and cut.
stick it thru a bass driver and it's perfect for hard rock/metal.
equivilent now would be the legend series i guess.
warwick basses i find a bit uncomftable to play but they do sound good, nice growly mids, sits well in mixes. they r a little pricey tho (rock bass range is'nt meant to b much good). same with musicman, horrible to play but sounds great, also expensive tho.
havent tried an esp bass (love their guitars tho) i'd say try an esp and a spector if u can and see which u prefer.

I just realized Egan that you gave me the same exact Spector link as ConspiricyBass did. Sorry I missed that. This one may be the best deal.
What is it about the Warwicks that you don't care for?
Just condsider it 2 votes for the Spector.

I think warwicks sound ok, but I don't love the sound or the feel. They have always felt and sounded 'rubbery' to me. Obviously YMMV. I'm sure many folks get killer sounds out of them and love them.

I'd reccomend going and playing some stuff and seeing what you like. I'm sure the ESP and Schecter are good instruments as well.

After playing every bass in our store over the past few days I have to say the best without a doubt has been the Spector Legend 5 string, the quality is amazing and they come with decent active EMG's and a great active EQ section. As soon as I get paid I'm going to see what deal the store manager can give me on one I love them that much.

I didn't get one yet but as of right now it's looking like it will be the Spector Legend Classic 5 string.
I did however get the Sansamp programable bass DI. Sounds pretty good. I think it will do just fine.

i'd say grab a mexican fender jazz if your trying to be thrifty.
sound awesome, and actually sit in a mix with no problem
