well I am trying to get a sound similar to Miss May I. And using my pod xt pro connected to my tascam 1641 via digital coaxial cable. And with the tascam I am using Fl Studio with the free hass stereo delay which is set to Heavy guitar and I'm also using Izotope Ozone 4 and using Harmonic Exciter, in which I excite the lows and highs and leave the mids alone. I'm also using waves L3 as a maximizer on the cd master setting. Any suggestions? I believe it sounds alot better than I used to get a couple of weeks ago, but it still sounds like I need some finishing touches to even it out. I feel like I'm so close to getting the guitar sound I want!!!!:kickass:

here's an example:

sorry my internet kept on crashing hardcore in the middle of posting this... >.<

OH MY GOD ALIENS HAVE ABDUCTED THE MIDS! THEY ARE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND! (O_o)

Dude, if this is close to getting the guitar sound you want... uhh, I don't know what to say. The high end is harsh as FUCK and just sticks shish kebab "needles" in my ears while the mids have gone emo and cut themselves out of the mix. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I think you need to find a way to bring back some meat into your tone man. This tone is like... imagine the most gorgeous woman on earth, then remove ALL flesh from her body so all that remains is a skeleton covered by flubby loose skin. You wouldn't fuck that would you? :O

Lol, it's not even a gorgeous woman, it's just a mediocre chick with the flesh stripped off her:lol:

No offense or anything dude (The OP), but you just made the And Justice For All tone sound godly in comparison.

If you want us to help you out, tell us what POD settings you're using (Amp sim, stomp box etc) and I and some others can help get you in the right direction of much better tone.
Everyone here is cool, we'll be more than happy to help:)

awww lol I suck at pod tones. I'm using the M-s diamond plate with 90% drive 60% bass, 60% mid, 100% treble, 100% presence. with the 4x12 treadplate and 67 condenser mic with 40% room.

And in the 4 band EQ, I am at 3.0 gain at 100, -.4 gain at 200, 5.6 gain at 1.6k, and 6 gain at 6.0k.

The tube screamer is 100% drive, gain and tone. lol

I have never owned a pod or anything like that but judging by your settings, all that top end boosting and gain maxation (100% treble, presence and gain, :yuk:) to me is asking for fizzy, lifeless crap! :)
As I said, dont know anything on these things, but I would horn down on the gain for the first part, then set the eq at 12 oclock and subtract the freqs that you dont like, only by a little margin at a time, record a short clip, go to the dunny (toilet) with some filth material, come back 17 seconds later and listen, then repeat gradually, go to the dunny again , if you can, and keep going till at least you have some decent body about the tone.
Or wait for someone on here that knows what they are actually talking about! :)

Hey man, I'm using the Diamond Plate model too. One thing for other people to bear in mind, a POD is not a real Recto, so settings that might sound totally awful on a real recto can sometimes work on a POD.

As has been said, turn down the gain A LOT. Depending on your pickups and their output, experiment between 60 and 70 per cent gain. I've found you don't need more than 75 per cent on PODs for any rhythm stuff.
Do you have the Boost+EQ stomp (this comes with the X3, but with the XT I think you can only access it if you buy an effects expansion pack thing)?
If you don't, start using that instead of the Screamer, because it offers more tone shaping options.
If can't afford it right now, keep using the Screamer, but set the drive to zero (yes, I do mean zero), level between 50 and 80 depending on your pickups output level and tone between 40 and 60, but try 50 at first. That will have the effect of the Screamer working as a proper boost to enhance your tone, rather than adding unnecessary and disgusting sounding overdrive.

DO NOT use the condenser microphone simulation for rhythm guitar, period. It works good for leads......for rhythms, it's just a no no unfortunately Use the 57 On Axis simulation and it will sound a lot better. Perhaps use less room tone too.
As for the actual preamp settings (Diamond Plate settings), use this as a starting point:
65 per cent gain
65 per cent bass
85-100 per cent mids (I'm not kidding, this sounds horrible on a real Recto, but PODs are naturally thin and need that extra mids and it actually works on PODs, believe it or not)
80 per cent treble
80 per cent presence

For the 4 band semi parametric EQ, don't cut 200 hz.
In fact, boost around 300 Hz and 750 Hz slightly, cut around 6Khz and boost 2.5-3Khz.

Hope this helps as a starting point.

I still don't understand how everyone gets such a good tone that fits with everyother instrument when I've been struggling for so long to get at least to this tone I uploaded. I almost gave up with this guitar stuff and going straight to power pop rock, but idk. I'm still trying and playing around hardcore with settings and crap.

Yeah agree with Erkan, this newer clip is way better ;)

But are you still using ozone, L3 and such on the channel? take them off, and build from the raw sound coming off the pod.
I've never posted any sound of mine, I know, but try to keep plugins to the minimum until mixing stage. I use the treadplate/criminal/bigbottom with pod's cabsims and sounds ok, no onboard eq, I rarely use a tubescreamer tho.
I'm telling you this because, when you start stacking rhy guitars, the high end you had on the clip, builds up fast, and you'd need to cut it down a lot during mixing. ;)

yeah you need to drop off all those mastering tools for getting a guitar tone. Mastering tools are for MASTERING a mix. What you need now is a good guitar tone, and you should get it with the tools for guitar, you POD only. or you could try turning off the cab simulation and using impulses instead, but that doesn´t seem to be your problem, it´s definitely in the preamp and tubescreamer
