Hey peeps!
It's been a while again since i posted here! Love for everyone =)

Yeah, well thing is that here on the city exists some other "producers" and
"studios" that do a very bad job in my opinion. And worst thing of all is they
rate and price per hours a lot more than i do!

This is what the other dude did. They payed over 210$ for it and never released it;

[Of course, the music material is kinda shitty/amateur because these guys are just...starting out]

And this is what i did for them a couple months after the first one, for free;

This brings a question to my mind, how do you guys working out there in project/home studios rate or price your work?

Appreciate your feedback,
:wave:

yep. I've been in that situation. I think we paid 1200 for a 5 song EP and the dude had absolutely no idea what he was doing. He seemed all legit too, had a HUGE professional studio, like something out of the movies. But the CD was soooo bad that I had to convince him to give me all of our raw takes so that I could mix it myself. I didn't even know anything about mixing at the time but I knew I could put something together that was better than his take. I think he was a country producer but our manager booked him anyway cuz his studio was that legit. The poor guy was getting lost just trying to figure out what our drummer was doing!

Oh man! That's exactly what drives me a bit mad! I recorded a full album in that studio a couple years ago and yes, it may not be the monster Hollywood thing but it has TEH pretty cool stuff plus a cute and well treated live room. Wish i had that location/space! My guess is that maybe these dudes can capture everything 'correctly' but mixing is a whole different monster though.

A country producer into metal stuff? That's weird! hahah he must've been desperate? :3

I think these people do serious damage to music and starting-out bands and it leads and causes the other pro studios to raise even more their rates!

1200 for 5 songs; that would place it in the ~200 area. When did u guys recorded?

Sure there are these semi-pro studios that charge a lot and don't necessarily sound any better than what you'd record at home.

That "lol" -track sounds like guitars and vocals were recorded badly and everything else sounds bad just because they were mixed like sh*t. :D

That is the daily thing here on this city. Lots of old guys with lots of money and cool studios, but weird results at the end.

And yeah, they sent the DIs plus a midi track, and mixed everything kind of quick. Those vocals gave me a hard time, they were so SO thin.

I don't really know what the heck they were doing on the room X'D
